Yeah I don’t know why people think they need a performance 3” exhaust on a 2.3L I4. I think that’s where the noise comes from. I just took a quick look and it seems that performance pipes for a F150 coyote v8 are 3”!
Ok, now that I have a few days of runtime...
I can say that there is a noticeable performance improvement. I was worried that it would feel as imperceptible as my CAI/charge pipes, but I can definitely tell a difference. Around town there is also perceptibly less "lag" when accelerating. The...
No plans for an exhaust. I haven’t seen any dynos that showed any real increase on the Ranger from doing that, and SPD told me it wasn’t really needed due to exhaust gases cooling (shrinking) as soon as they left the turbo.
I don’t know what a defouler is or why I’d need one. In all the...
My experience...
Well I think this is my last performance mod (already have the S&B CAI, AFE charge pipes, and LMS tune). I can't justify a $900 IC here in MI where it wouldn't do much for most of the year. Anyway, I got the SPD stainless downpipe a few months ago but was finally able to get...
I did my doors a couple of months ago using a combination of Dynamat Extreme and Second Skin. They were pretty easy. About 30 minutes or so each, you can do them one a day as you have time. They sound a lot better now when closing. No super noticeable difference for road noise.
Then I did...
I’ve heard the Tremor leafs are softer than the regular Ranger. I’ve heard the Icon leafs are too. So are the Icons softer or firmer than the Tremor? I want a smoother rise on the road and trails. No towing or hauling.
Thinking about the stage 7…
Hi everyone,
I have a '22 Tremor with stock wheels and suspension. I go off-road for 4-8 hours about once a month on average. 36k miles. No added weight, no towing.
I've been reading about the FOX 2.0 I have now - that they need "serviced" after 30-50k miles. Rather than go without for a...
Hi all,
I've been running the LMS 91-93 performance tune for the past 33k miles but have since added AFE charge pipes, an S&B CAI, and soon a SPD 3" downpipe. I'm happy with all of it, but looking for a bit more. LMS says their tune will automatically account for those things, but I'm not sure...
@JasonTremor and @Fitzmotor - you guys were spot on! I found the clamp on the charge pipe down below the airbox had come loose so I reseated that sucker and clamped it good. The boost is back!
THANK YOU!!!!
Hi all, I'm running a '22 Tremor with the Livernois 91-93 tune, S&N filter box, and AFE charge pipes.
Yesterday I was on my way home and punched it to get out on the highway... I heard what at first sounded like tires spinning on damp pavement, but is a whooshing noise under boost. I can...
We like to drive the trails in Michigan’s upper peninsula, and had been using Google maps to do it - it’s crazy that it shows the two-tracks! The Ford nav shows them too but isn’t as fully featured. With the offline maps now in Apple Maps, I thought I’d give that a try… but we got up there...
I didn’t see topics on anything other than door/ rear wall/ roof sound deadening installs with Dynamat et al, so…
Has anyone done a MLV or MLV/CCF install under the carpet? Just wondering how thick it could be before fit becomes an issue.
Not looking for a philosophical debate on whether it’s...
Well obviously, but part of the point here is that the Raptor is at least $30k more (with dealer markups) than a upper end Ranger… pricing it out of most of our reaches. You should be able to mod/tune a 2.3 close enough to a Raptor to make it interesting, no?
I’ve been looking for a performance comparison of a well-tuned 2.3 5g Ranger vs the 3.0 6g… anyone know of such a matchup yet? Dyno, 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. Not just numbers put together, but an actual head to head. I figure the Aussies must have done this by now…
That’s what some people say, but in another recent thread someone did a DP with 2.5 inch exhaust and got a big difference. Plus I called SPD and they said it wasn’t necessary because the exhaust gasses start cooling and contracting as soon as they leave the turbo.
