I'm also curious why quality metrics aren't a big part of the annual profit sharing as they are for the Tier 1s. Probably part of it is that the plant will never accept it's the issue and point the finger at suppliers or engineering.Do these lowly factory workers get a say in your wage? We are all entitled to our opinion though, can’t really blame you for sharing.
A big part of the contention was when wages were froze and benefits walked back when times were tough. Now times are good and….
You bet costs are up. But profits means the money remaining after costs (including wages + benefits) is up.
I would love to see a something like a bonus structure for a plant with a measurable reduction in employee-related warranty/quality issues.
I do find it funny that the union complains about the companies not sharing their profits when profit sharing checks have been bigger than ever for the UAW this year. Around $12k I think.
