Now a days, with most if not all auto manufacturers using anti-siphoning devices on the gasoline fillers, the gasoline thieves don't mess with the fillers, that is old-school. Now, they just drill or punch a hole in your non-metallic gasoline tank and take the gasoline that way.

Maybe you want a locking gas cap to prevent someone from adding anything to your tank but don't buy a locking gas cap to prevent someone from stealing your gasoline. A waste of money.

Pretty sure i had my gas siphoned off today. Filled up yesterday, drove 10 miles today and I noticed I had 1/2 a tank. Inspected around the tank and nothing. I was parked at a park for 2 hours while i was out mountain biking.

Are you sure it was full, and not an early click-off?

Due to the ongoing issues with the EZ Fill cap that I absolutely hate with , I have found that I have to pay close attention to the total gallons dispensed when fueling up. Otherwise the pump will shut off pre-maturely and won't fill completely. It'll show full at first then within a short distance the gauge will drop down. My 08 GTI would do the same thing too. So an early click-off is certainly a possibility.

I'd prefer some sort of locking fuel door to a locking cap. Wife's subie has one with the lever on the driver's side floor.

It's less of a fuel siphoning concern and more of a desire to avoid spiteful bastards. You never know when you'll run into one of those.

I had some gas siphoned from my '02 Silverado, just a couple months before I got the Ranger. As if mocking me, the perp left the gas cap in the truck bed, and the siphon hose on the ground near the rear of the truck.

EDIT: That was in San Diego, CA

Seems as though some punks are setting cars on fire to get their jollies in Honolulu, all the more reason to secure the fuel filler opening. As of yet Ford does not manufacture a locking fuel plug for 5G Rangers, dunno what the holdup could be. The punishment I would inflict on these individuals would make Dr. Hannibal Lechter look like a alterboy...
