I have had 5-Star tune installed for 10k miles now. I tow a 2500# camper in the mtns of CO pretty aggressively. It's great. I use the 87 daily/tow tune. I am happy with 5 Star overall. Sadly my MPG is hovering around 20 with 33in Duratracs. That's a decrease from 14 that I WAS averaging before. My old Focus ST shot UP in MPG with a COBB tune, so I was a tad disappointing with this one decreasing.
the 33’s are heavier and harder to spin. My mpgs were better after the tune also.
Regards

Edit
Mine is on stock tires.
21.9 mpg before tune in drive mode
24.6 mpg after tune in drive mode

I use Sport mode only now...21 mpg

For the guys that got the 5 Star, which tuner did you get? I'm trying to figure out the difference between the $700 tune pkg and the $550 tune pkg.

Also, was tire size configurable?

Either Im reading this wrong or my sarcasm detector is terrible. You are sad that it is getting 20mpg now after the tune when it was 14? I just got my wheels/tires and a level and the mpgs just went into the shitter (around 16mpg). Are yall saying this tune bounces the mpgs back up?

I have the LIVERNOIS tune installed and it is AWESOME, everything they advertised. They are very easy to work with if you have concerns or a problem and the tunes are super easy to install. Plug into the OBI port and follow the prompts...
@CoastieN70 , I am considering Livernois also. My biggest issue with the stock tune is how it manages the tranny. It always seems to be in a higher gear than it should be in order to increase MPG. This causes it to feel under-powered and jittery when I am just cruising. Do the Livernois tunes do a good job of addressing that? How about shift quality? Does it shift any smoother than stock? Thanks for any info you can give me. :)

If you are light on the peddle (and I mean light) the shifts are smooth as silk but just a little aggression unleashes very firm (not what I would call hard) shifts.
When the tune is first installed the newly re-flashed computer has to go through its learn process, just like it did in its stock mode when you first started driving your Ranger. Shifts are "harsh" but smooth out nicely. Throttle response is better with the tune and there is none of the jittery feeling you describe.
I have been impressed with the tunes and I like the "Multi Octane" tunes; 87-89 and 91-93 octane. When I had my Explorer every octane rating was a separate tune: 89, 91, 93. I loved the 93 tune but because I travel to areas where 91 is max octane available I kept the 91 tune installed and sacrificed performance for peace of mind, granted there wasn't that much difference between the 91 & 93 tunes but there was a difference.
Now I have max performance and peace of mind to boot! :)

They really should make this for both Windows and Mac users like 5 Star does. I can't remember the last time I had compatibility issues from a company because they weren't Mac friendly. Lets face it this isn't the 90's where only a small percent of households are Mac users and as much as I like their product I'll be going with 5 Stars when the time comes to get this.

Palm beach Dyno is very reputable and also a good choice.
Regards
But I need to purchase a tuner correct? I like the nGuage the best.
Not sure of the process. By the nGuage tuner and then go to Palm Beach Dyno?
or Go to Palm Beach Dyno and buy the nGuage from him and he loads the tune?

Just took advantage of Unleashed's special --- BDX tuner and two tunes for $399. Leslie and Torrie were very responsive and helpful.

Don’t know, some Dyno tuners use their shop laptop. Give them a call...

They have plenty on the shelf. You can drive up and leave with it and be tuned today. If you go with them, let them know I sent you.
