I guess just by chance, at the time I was seeing LSPI with the performance tune so I was switching around the tunes. Two times it failed to write the file and I had to reinitiate it. Trying to start the engine may have caused damage at that point. Luckily Livernois has built in recovery software and was able to write the tune. Sure was scary for a minute though

After discussing with Livernois at the time, it is best to have the truck warmed up and battery fully charged, crack a window, turn off ALL the accessories (radio, lights, AC, nothing plugged, etc.), your phone's bluetooth, tell everyone around you to piss off for 20 min and then shut the truck down and install the tune
I had the same issue with the Ford Performance tune. I tried to install twice, all the blocks would write then would get a failure. I powered the truck off and powered it back on and tried again and it went fine.

I haven't updated my tunes since May 2021, after reading the updates on this thread I messaged them. They said I had the most current version/revision of the tune already installed

I have had all of the tunes except the E30 tune. They also said they were working on an E85 tune

I like running the Towing tune, I don't switch around after almost bricking the truck
This is why my truck is currently stock and will stay stock.

My Livernois tuner bricked my truck more times than I can remember, once creating a CEL after recovery that couldn't be cleared and required a trip to the dealer.

I had multiple instances where the recovery failed and I was sure that a tow to the dealer was upcoming, but it eventually did recover. Probably after adding 12 flashes to the internal flash counter ?

After that, it has been in the box on the shelf ever since.

It is very unlikely to get reinstalled as I fear it will eventually brick it to the point it can't be recovered.

Can anybody confirm that you can drive with the tow tune as a daily driver without towing anything? I called livernois I don’t know who I talk to though but he said he doesn’t recommend it I was wondering why? I just emailed them for my tunes.

I'm not sure why they told you that? @Frenchy has been using it for his DD for a while now and so have several others.

As already mentioned from you the other guy I have been running the tow tune on my truck as a daily driver for no problem for well over a year now. Disable least I have had no issues whatsoever and really enjoy it.

That’s what I was telling this guy. He told me I should get my information directly from them not from people on the forms. Seems kinda weird.

I hate you all. Going to pull the trigger on this very soon.

I hate you because the wife is gonna kill if she finds out.

Worth it to get the Ranger as quick as my stock Genesis coupe was.. but with more utility! Maybe that will save me....

Still confused why the particular guy you talked to you said the tow truck is not a good daily driver again. Efficiency over max power. Don't get me wrong you still get an increase in power but you can easily switch to any fuel you prefer hook up a trailer whatever you want without having to switch tunes

I was told by Livernois the tow tune was safe for daily use. Same thing Frenchy said

I've been running it daily for about 15k miles now

He also said it was 93 only for tow tune. I ask for the 5 tunes that was available for the ranger. he told me there are no tunes like that because you have to tell them what you want.. All made custom

He also said it was 93 only for tow tune
Lol the tow tune is a flex tune that allows 87 octane to 93 octane. I run 91 here in Colorado since that is the only fuel for premium here. Also the owners manual does state for towing and better performance to run premium.

The guy you spoke to unfortunately doesnt have a clue

Have you noticed the tow tune is weaker till 2800 rpm’s? Just looking at the chart stock made more hp and torque till then. Which sucks cuz I Cruze at 2200rpms
