Look for input from Lariat Owners and those who have swapped to Lariat - Led Headlight Assemblies

I have just recently obtained my new 22 Ranger Lariat with the LED delete (downgrade to halogens) a whopping $500 Credit and I am looking for reviews and reliability of the Factory LED Headlights, since these have integrated LED's how is the longevity of the light's, mainly the DRL's. They say that LED's last 50K plus hours but being an Aircraft Technician who deals with aircraft exterior LED Lighting that's not always true, but I will admit that aircraft exterior lighting is put through extreme temperature fluctuations (Flight & Ground Temp's) as far as driving around town I see quite a few cars/trucks on the road with half of the DRL's. I am looking to upgrade from Halogen to LED and to get my truck to how it was ordered. I don't want to just throw LED bulbs in the Reflector housing, yes it can be done but it just does not look right. I know there has been quite a few that have swapped over to the Lariat Headlight housings, its expensive but in the long run, is it worth it.? since later down the road if it burns out you are changing the whole housing. So that's why I am asking for all owners with Lariat LED housings for input, have you ever had to replace them due to burned out? of course mostly under warranty

Thanks

I own a 2021 Lariat SuperCrew from new, with 22K miles; OEM LED headlights are Excellent with 100% reliable performance. The OEM Lariat LED headlights is THE MAIN reason I choose the Lariat model and am totally satisfied with these lights.

Are you planning on getting some? If it didn't originally come with the truck will they be covered by warranty? Or you can go aftermarket which would be cheaper (than if you buy new from Ford) and maybe a better warranty. Probably preform better too.

XLT with halogen here. Got the Lariat LED’s on the way and will be installing them not long from now. Before I do want to see what might possibly be involved to replacing LED lamps if ever needed. Something tells me though it isn’t straight forward surgical operation

Everything I have seen and heard about the factory LED is they are a great upgrade from the factory halogens. I have an XLT and hope to do the LED housing upgrade in the future.

You mention that your truck came with the halogen downgrade and we’re given a $500 credit. I believe you will have to come out of pocket just do this upgrade(going with a used set), and definitely have to shell out quite a bit of going new. Have you considered looking at an aftermarket option? I only say this because I feel like those that got the $500 credit/downgrade got shafted by Ford, and wouldn’t want you having to pay more for something that should’ve been on your truck in the first place.

15k mikes on a 21 lariat.. no problems.. One of the reasons I bought lariat was for the LED lights. Light output is good, not great inho. I added Baja designs squadron pro combo beams to my bumper, those lights are nearly twice as bright as the factory LED headlamps.

Real world empirical data to compare led vs standard in our trucks would be helpful.

Love them. 17K on the truck. The LED lighting (front and rear) are one of the finer points of the Lariat, in my opinion. Super bright, crisp, reliable.

2019 Lariat, bought in August 2020. LED headlights are still going strong, absolutely love them. Have over 30k on the truck, so definitely used them a good bit, especially in PNW winters.

My Lariat is still too new to offer much reliability info directly. However, I see quite a few of them around and I have yet to see one with one side of the DRLs out. I know what you mean about that, though, I'd expect those to be a real bear to replace if you could even do it without replacing the whole housing.

I highly doubt it, as this would change the as built status, they may consider it aftermarket, I hope I would never have an issue. I have looked at the 2 aftermarket options. Alpharex & Morimoto but don't really like the startup sequence., but with that said if they are proven to be better than Factory then I can live with the startup sequence
