Kinda suspicious "Tremor"

According to secret source(can't reveal, sorry) two VIN decode shows grille & wheels are original equipment from factory(both Tremor equipment as far as I'm aware). One decode suggests it came with dash upfitter switches & "TREMOR" decals, other decode doesn't. It's odd, but Ford VIN decode can be a hit & miss, especially last few years by my observation. It also mentioned package 3 or equipment 3 or something like that. Maybe that's the Tremor package? I don't know.

I used the Fordpro.ca VIN decoder and it suggested it was a 2023 XL - what the what?

It is a XLT, going by the fender badge it came from factory with. Depending on where I look they sometime show both XL & XLT, etc. Not always 100% clear.

In an early forum thread, a guy offered to trade the switch pack with another member for the tray. The tray is like $32. As John Dunbar said, “Good trade”. The thread was about whether or not the switch pack would fit into the earlier (2019 & 2020) non-tremor Rangers. Folks wanted to buy the upfitters and plunk them into the dash. There was no definitive answer.

It confirms some of the comments about the switches not being an option.

It was a really dumb move on Fords part IMO. If you got/ordered one with the FX4 package, the switches should have been part of the package IMO. If the Tremor can have the switches/wiring added separate from normal production, then the FX4 could have as well. Or at least given the option.

In 2022 I originally had Bronco base on order before I switched to Ranger(shorter wait time), and on Bronco base model switches were option for just couple hundred dollars or something like that & I did add it. It would've been so nice if it was a option for FX4 Ranger.

Interesting - it’s a repo from May of this year and had a bunch of work, including on the valve body, at 12k miles.

Maybe combo unreported accident plus stripping for parts before the repo?

I notice that although the repo was orchestrated/reported by the Indiana DMV, it appears to have taken place in College Station, TX. Maybe the owner was trying to make a run for it, or more likely it was some college student at TX A&M who had to hitchhike home for the summer.

I have this model year truck, but in a different color. The wheels are close, but not Tremor wheels. The equipment package (be it 301a or 302a) doesn't matter. The upfitter switches are standard in the Tremor package regardless of whether it is an XLT or Lariat.

This is such a cool thread. I, too, have made popcorn. Not sure whether I feel bad for the dealership. Maybe I should, but given how sleazy so many of the dealerships I've dealt with over the years I'm having a hard time.

(One of those times was reporting some shenanigans of a Chevy dealership "outside the gate" of the post I was stationed at. I got royally screwed by some real "Used Cars" movie garbage, so I reported it to the post JAG. They in turn told the 2-star post commander and he put the dealership off limits. Which caused the dealership to close. I was very pleased. And stopped by the dealership as it was dying to tell them so.)

Seriously, that car fax lists Klaben Ford in Kent, Ohio. I grew up in Akron Ohio.
I bought my first vehicle at Kalben.
A 1989 ford Ranger extended cab 4wd 5 speed
