So you like that tune? I’m considering one but I just don’t know yet. If it always keeps your around 1500rpm or higher that sounds like it would be perfect!

I'm happy with it. I chose 5star for the warranty they offer. I went with the 6 yr 100k. I do idle lower than 1500, but when driving it tends to not go below 1500.

How do you lock out gears? Using the +/- on the gear just moves the gear up or down plus shows what gear yo are in on the dash.

Ive never noticed a vibration or anything like that -- just sometimes hesitating to downshift if I need it to move NOW!!!!! then it gets going pretty well but seems pretty smooth most of the time..... maybe hit the +/- button on the stick as you drive and watch the display (I do it for fun sometimes - yeah traffic is that boring......) to see what gear it is choosing, Ive noticed most of the time it skips a gear or two depending on driving conditions sometimes it'll go 1-3-5-8-10 or something like that it does seem to want to keep rpms low. all In all its a pretty smooth driving / shifting little truck.

So I’m trying to figure out if I have an issue with my transmission or if it’s just a characteristic of our rangers.

when I’m cruising around town at speeds of say 25-40mph the truck seems to be lugging a little bit. It keeps the RPMs very low and I get a vibration/lugging sensation. It feels the same as driving a Manuel transmission in too high of a gear. It almost feels like the truck is bogging down until I give it more gas. No stuttering or jerking but just a low vibrating feeling and I can feel it in the wheel. It’s like holding an electric toothbrush but not as strong. At times it feels like the road surface changed but it didn’t.

sport mode is great but I find it hold the rpms too high. No vibration in sport mode.

I have no vibration on take off and no vibration when reving the engine in park. I only have it when the truck is lugging along in 7th gear and 1100rpms at 35mph. 2021 Tremor 520 miles on it

Every one with a tranny that had more than 3 speeds and overdive has given me a slight bit of rumble at low rpm's. I don't worry about it anymore.


I've had a 2013 Ford Interceptor Utility (Explorer) 6-speed, 134k miles. 2016 Challenger V6, 24k miles, 8-speed (regular drive sucked and drove in sport mode mostly). 2019 Chev Colorado, V6, 8-speed???(don't remember) and other than the usual Chev tranny issue, it had a slight low rpm rumble. 2016 Charger Pursuit, 103k miles, Hemi AWD -5 speed with slight low rpm, low-end rumble -- was bullet proof, despite my best efforts. ?

None of the above vehicles had had any trans issues while I drove them. I can only speculate that as transmission gears become more numerous, the manufacturers are determined to get the shift points as low as possible....you know, for "fuel economy."

I agree! I also posted this question on Facebook and everyone that is responding is saying their truck does it and its fairly normal. I figured I would ask on here before taking it in to the dealer and having them tell me its fine. Def saved me some time. This is also my first 4 banger and my first turbo so I have lots to get used too lol. Loving the truck so far and happy to be an owner!

I'm getting a lot of people telling me that their truck is the same as what I describe but I also have a few people like yourself who claim to not have it or not notice it. Maybe some trucks do it more than others or peoples perceptions are different. the 10 or so people who have told me theirs does the exact same thing puts me at ease that nothing is wrong with my truck and its just how they are. Either some do it and some don't or they all do it and some people are just hyper sensitive to it and some are not.

Some people call it a shutter others call it vibration or harmonic resonance of some kind. I have a tremor so maybe the slight lift and larger tired could cause it as well.

I have 2021 tremor xlt l, always have start/stop off, and if I am giving light gas holding at 20 mph in 5th gear I get light rumble strip feeling. Sometimes in 4th but 5th for sure. Everything else seems to shift fine. Only 875 miles but I don’t think this has anything to do with adaptive learning. Not sure what it is and if it’s a problem. I feel it loves the highway & going fast but slow and many start stops it does not enjoy. I’ve had a 4l V6 most of my life as well as straight 6 in a Cherokee for a few years & everything was quiet & smooth. I know this is a very different engine but it’s quirky. And I don’t mind as long as it’s supposed to be like this.

The engine is fantastic, ain't it!? But, yeah, with a few threads describing various different transmission quirks, yours pretty much nails what I got. Best way to describe it is that it feels like a manual tranny always in one gear higher than it needs to be. Most noticeable during in-town driving when I tend to feather the throttle to increase speed a wee bit. Really subtle and only really bothersome when I allow myself to dwell on it.

Also want to add what others have said: I sometimes reduce the gear option to 1-7 or 1-8. That seems to help.

Thank you for trying that out. Good to hear I’m not alone with that specific thing. If it’s normal I’m ok with it. Just would like to know what is exactly happening mechanically.

I’m sure there is someone here who can answer that but it ain’t me lol. I just know my truck does the exact same thing. I’m curious as well.

I live in a hilly and windy road area which limits top speed to about 40. I notice this all the time climbing a hill. Sometimes it seems so bad that even pushing on the gas does nothing. I have started shifting into S prior to heading up a bigger hill just to avoid this. Maybe will investigate tune, but with only 1000 miles on this thing, I am hesitant to do anything that may impact warranty.

I joined the group to find an answer to this exact issue. 21 Tremor. Cruising though town at 30mph. Truck is in 7th gear and starts the rumble until it downshifts. It’s happens when it hangs out in too high of a gear. Any fixes?
