With winter coming up I have some items that don't want to store in the cab or under the rear seat. Some items as tow chain or strap, bottle jack, tie down straps that I would rather have easily accessible when needed. List is probably endless, so I built some prototype boxes, had some scrap crap plywood, just to see how things work. Sizes can vary. I cleaned the spray in bed liner out of the holes for the factory swing boxes & lucky enough that who ever the dealer had do the spray in bed liner removed my factory tie downs before spraying so it was easy to remove the bolts needed to install my L brackets to hold the end of the box to the bed side. I made both sides different sizes. Just experimenting. Any thoughts & suggestions throw em out there.

That’s actually a really nice idea ?

I was thinking of doing one at cab side of the bed. Hinged folding that can drop down when needed and fold up flat against front of bed using Velcro to hold it closed.

I like that idea.! Will have to look at doing that in conjunction with my bed divider.

I use two ratcheting cargo bars securing two perfectly sized plastic tubs with latching tops. Working perfectly. Easy to remove if I need the whole bed.

Nice idea!! What tap did you use? My Line-X place did the same stuff and I cant seem to find out what tap I need to use. I am trying to build some things using the existing mounting holes in the bed.

The swing box holes are #6Mx1.0 The tie down holes I believe are #8Mx1.25 I only had to do the swing box holes. Take a sharp razor knife & scrape some of the bed liner off at the eadge of the hole to get tape started good.

Awesome! I'll be doing this as soon as I get a free chance from working 6/12s on night shift!

I used these... Includes both sizes needed. Large one for the tie down holes, small one for the other mounting holes.

Oh that looks awesome! I'll put that in the cart!
