That Ranger should never gotten out of the company! It is a very rare prototype of a modified Ranger that Marketing scotched and was never produced beyond two examples of which both should have been sent to the crusher....

Anyones damper squeaking? Its winter up here so its pretty cold and dry. I can just throw some grease on the strut. Just didnt think I'd have to do it so soon. Just put it on a few months ago!?

Most likely not the actual damper, try hitting the tailgate hinge with some silicone or dry lube.... groaning went right away on mine!

No offense, I don’t get the tailgate dampener accessory. You grab the tailgate release handle, you lower the tailgate and you are done. Why would you want to slow the process.

What am I missing?

Written in stone: I will NOT install a tailgate damper.

I would rather run a series of Rube Goldberg ropes and pulleys that lead into the cab before I get a damper.

EDIT: I also will NOT mock anyone who has a damper as being a purse toting Nancy either. No matter how bad I might want to, I will not do it.

As far as pricing for these things I paid 40 shipped for mine. Painted my bracket black before mounting it. I can run a clear lap around the truck before it hits bottom too ?
