    I did some work that required me to get into that space. I removed that plastic shroud and never put it back in. I've been driving around without and so far the truck hasn't exploded.

    Its pretty pointless to split the pipes after the cat converter. I find it hard to believe there is anything to gain from these exhaust systems.
