I was reading up and have learned that the 2.3 Eco is direct injection. Apparently this allows for build up on the valve train. I read a recommendation to clean it out every 25k ish miles. Is Seafoam a good option to do this? Do I just add it to the fuel tank? Back in the day I had a 2001 4.0 Ranger, and I took off the brake booster line, slowly poured Seafoam down the tip into the upper intake, then dumped the bottle to stall it on purpose. I let it sit a good while, then started it. Not sure I want to do that to a $40k truck.

Nothing you can add to the tank will clean GDI IVD's. You have to either inject something upstream of the valves (which Ford does not condone) or you pull the intake off every 100k or so and walnut blast the backside of them.

Not many other options other than those.

Some people try catch cans, which in theory can help, sooner than normal oil changes, which also might help cut down on them, but in a pure GDI engine, which is what we have, there's not much of a way around them.

Im coming up to 100k and it still runs great. I have had a catch can for 30k now. Not sure its as big of a deal as people say. If its not having drivability issues, let it ride.

At around 65k I sprayed amsoil power foam into my intake. I didn't notice a difference. I didn't buy the power foam for this particular job, I just keep it in the garage for whenever I need it. I think crc makes a DI cleaner.

I have 101k on my truck. It's been tuned since it hit 1k. I change my oil every 10k. My mpg average has been same since I've owned it. I do a lot of hwy/city driving and idle time.... Used it for Uber. The engine has never skipped a beat.
