I know many are not in favor of buying extended warranties and up until a few years ago I was one of them. I think if you're going to keep it longer than the factory warranty it's a good idea especially with all the computers board now. Then add it the EGR, 10R80 issues and heater box just having problems with either one of those last two will pay for it.

Sadly it seems that many things made post Covid are not built well and just don't last like they use to. Remember the Maytag man? That use to be Maytags selling point that their appliances were built to last but not anymore. When we were building the house I couldn't believe how bad their (and most every other manufacturers0 reviews are. Leaky dishwashers, racks breaking/falling off the track, microwave insides melting and refrigerators ice and water failing which is very common. This was even on higher end appliances like Bosch, Z-Line or GE Cafe. Heck when dishwashers are now reaching $1,000+ it's almost a no brainer now to buy one.
Wait....you built a house???
Do tell!
🤪

Oh. I thought you were referring to your health insurance.
At least you found some humor
in my sometimes messed up hunt and peck typing method. My cousin who was taken from us in a drunk driving accident taught me how to type. Health insurance is through Tyson, which I rarely use BTW.🙂🤘

This is exactly why I bought the ESP 10/100,000 for mine. It was $1,905 (with a $200 deductible) and I used my FordPass points to help pay for it. Sure it's a gamble that you'll use it but what insurance policy isn't?

Like you I really don't wrench on my vehicles anymore and I drive so little now it's worth it for them to change the oil and rotate the tires once a year. I have better things to do with my free time, like detailing it and adding loads of 303 Graphene to it. 😁
I always tell fam to get extended warranties, and I also do not think buying used is as good idea as it used to be. Prices aside, who knows how well it was maintained, factory recommendations are already pushing the limits of oil life and how many people do it on time.

It is a shame cars/trucks are this way now. Manufacturers used to focus on being bullet proof. There was an ex-Ford engineer being interviewed, who started a consult firm for engineers, stated Ford stopped caring about longevity as much because they had the data that most of their trucks are leased, so they didn't need to focus much past the leased years of the truck to keep brand reputation strong. I wish I had the link to the video, BUT just because it was on the internet doesn't make it true, but it does make sense.

The shame is that I still love my truck, I want to keep it for years especially now that it is nearly paid off, miss being payment free.

Even when I see a Ranger Raptor, I think cool truck but I love mine. If I had to get rid of my truck, I would only do it for a RR, and I am sure I would love that truck too but I do not want to go out of my way to get one. My truck does everything I need plus the recent addition of the intercooler, charge pipes, radiator and BOV really gave it a refresh.

Crossing fingers my transmission goes out while under the extended warranty or it never goes out (yeah right). Thew new engine now has 15k miles, no oil consumption, AC replaced, now just have the trans to worry about.

Currently have 98,000 miles on my 2019 Ford Ranger & on the original drivetrain. I did have my Transmission, Coolant, Transfer case, Front & rear differential fluids changed at 50,000 miles & plan on doing it again at 100,000. I usually switch vehicles after 2-2 1/2 years but I still like this 2019 Ford Ranger as much as the day that I bought it. This is the longest I've ever kept a vehicle or rather it has kept me !

Ditto! Had my trans flushed at a ford dealer at around 55K and will do filter @ 100K. Ford dealer didn't recommend filter change at 55K. Original trans works well.

Only used vehicle I would buy would be a lease return, they are usually better cared for....

Will roll over 125k before the end of the month.

-Oil changes with full synthetic from day one
-all but first tank or two has been 91-93 octane and ethanol free when possible
-Ford Performance tuner since early on and updated regularly
-PPE tranny pan added when the fluid and filter were changed at 75k and 105k. Will do again at 140k
-front and rear diff served at 75k, FP rear diff cover added.
-ruthenium NGK plugs and new boots will be changed at 125k along with DPFE at the same time.
-brake pads will get swapped at 125k as well…..even tho the rears still have 25-30% wear left and even more on the front. I’ll likely never have to change them again before moving on to a new truck.

After picking this truck up in May of 2020, it’s been modified over and over to be a range truck, so I turned down the extended warranty because I believe they’d deny services based on the suspension, new bumpers, new upper control arms, new wheels,…… I’d heavily consider the extended warranty with a new Ranger Raptor tho.

I have no idea how much Tylenol my mom took when I was in her womb, but this excited me more than it probably should have.
