I live in south eastern Massachusetts. It was -6F when I got up at 6am this morning. But overall this winter has been more fall like than winter. Only one day in the month of January was below average at 35F. The temp tomorrow is going to be back into the upper 40s and starting Monday for the rest of the week it will be in the 50s. Plus we haven't had enough snow to bother shoveling. I will be thrilled if it stays the same through February into March.

We typically get a few days every winter where the temps drop to zero or a few degrees below and will get a week or two straight where the temps barely get into the 20s. It ticks me off how the media makes such a big deal out of cold weather especially how they sensationalize wind chill numbers. All the weather forecasts wanted to talk about was the -108F wind chill on the top of Mt. Washington yesterday.
Our winter here really hasn't been too bad overall, either. Just the colder weather and short gloomy days really wear on me.

A little cold last night, 10*. Clear, bright, and sunny 26 right now.
I'm seeing less need for a snow thrower every year. Generally using it once a year since I got it about 5 yrs ago. Barely worth keeping except for that one snowfall we seem to get where it's 12" and I end up doing 3 of my neighbors drives to justify having it. Maybe we'll get that snowfall this month.
On the bright side, I noticed it was still daylight at 5:30PM yesterday! :like:

They did tie the record though.

Mt. Washington is a strange place. They have the world record for the highest recorded wind speed not associated with a tornado or cyclone at 231 mph. It was an absolute record until a wind speed during a cyclone in Australia was measured at 253 mph.

I have been there in the summer when it is 85F at the bottom and 30F at the top with rime ice all over the radio tour on top.

Not bad here, 56Âş down from a high of 64Âş, so a nice day, cooler than I like but not in a hurry to go back to this...... in September!

Jesse and I live in the same town so of course we have the same weather but he didn't mention that we are being blessed with more rain here in the valley and snow in the Sierras. I like the fact that the snow stays up there and not in the valley.

It's been 64 here the last few days which is more normal for our winters. Nights at 3600 feet can get down to 20 though.
It's been a wetter and colder winter here since Thanksgiving.

I've been exploring a long shallow canyon just north of me that is known for it's Indian rock art, in this case, petroglyphs.
Snowmelt from the high country upstream makes it hard to cross over the creek this time of year, but I've found some nice petroglyph panels.
This big panel (darker rock in center) has around 3 dozen images, mostly deer but turtle, spirals and crosses, and one human figure that looks like he's wearing a helmet maybe ?
Ancient Aliens perhaps ?
