That's most likely the case. When they were designing the first damper they had a hard time getting the rebound right because of the light tailgate. It would either close way to fast or be to hard to push back up. I bet the struts need to be redone for the steel hood they're coming with now. They still should've included the ball mounts though.More thoughts on this issue. I'm wondering if the decision to remove the struts might have something to do with the hood (and panels) changing from aluminum to steel? Steel weighs about 2X more than aluminum. Maybe the engineers felt the hood struts couldn't safely support the extra weight?
BTW: I don't mind either way. I do like to delve into the how's and why's of manufacturing and engineering issues.![]()
