Just be aware, the highest speed rating for a trailer tire is "L" which is 75 mph, no matter if the tire is brand new.
Best trailer tires out now are the Goodyear Endurance, and their top rating is "L".
And, I seriously doubt U-Haul puts top of the line tires on their rentals....most likely they use "China Bombs"
Actually just looking at new tires for my TT. The Endurance now come in an "N" rating, which is 87 mph. Not that I'm ever going to go that fast. Just for clarification.

The Carlisle Radial trails are rated at 81mph.

Not that I should, but I routinely tow at 75 mph+.

Serious question, what is the limit? I've hit 113mph (just once, clam down everybody) and it it never did anything. I slowed down on my own cause that driveshaft was getting whirly.
110 is what i’m governed at

I have set a personal limit of 70 mph. It pulls fine there and the mileage gets bad enough.

Does insurance cover an accident going way too fast, especially towing a rental trailer?
The tranny on my old '94 Explorer overheated and puked a couple of times. The dealer finally installed an aftermarket tranny cooler and it never happened again.

Usually on I85/I75 here in GA. You'll get flattened running 70. The hit to the wallet hurts, but I feel it is safer rather than having everyone cut in front of me.

Everywhere else it is 65-70.

You people removing limiters. Don't forget that you have a driveshaft to think about as well. Not just the tires.

I don't know what the maximum speed is for the shafts, but you don't want one of those letting go.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Agree 100%. It's a truck, if you want to go "fast" get a Mustang....
100-110 mph is not "fast".....pretty much any current midsize car can top that. My wife's Subi Outback can top that without even breathing hard, and handle better. But so what ???
Just don't understand what someone is trying to prove by running that high in a truck.
The retired cop (from Florida) in me would say....
"Oh Boy, 3-4 tickets including a reckless driving charge, an arrest, and a vehicle tow that will cost around $200.00, plus bail, hiring an attorney, a gazillion points on your license, and double rates on your insurance !!!! "
Exactly!, this is what I tried to impress on my 21 year old Grandson, but of course he wouldn't listen. So now he has had his license suspended for doing 125 in a 45, his Mustang was impounded, $800 traffic fine, his insurance dropped him, and he will be in court next month. I told him all of this would happen, but he just said 'I won't get caught, what are the odds?' I guess it's just that 'My junk is bigger than yours' kind of thing.

I almost had a DUI hit me head on, at about 80mph, going the wrong way on a divided highway on my way home from work

AFTER I arrested a guy for doing the same thing at work that evening

I think I'll just hide under my bed and clutch my wife's purse for the rest of my life!

Nah!
A buddy of mine was returning back to the PD after a long shift when some rando on the opposite side of the highway had a heart attack, crossed the median at 90 mph, and hit his patrol car head-on. Absolutely HORRIFIC! It is supposed that the other driver was already dead before the impact, thankfully for him. My buddy Will was lucky to survive. It was awhile before he made it back on duty, and they said he was never going to be a cop again. But he did it!

Yikes. I missed mine by a split second. Freakin' roadside assistance guy was coming down the on ramp lit up like a Christmas Tree, thought it was state patrol. Distracted me.

Looked back just in time to see drunky coming straight at me in my lane, swerved onto the shoulder right before he blew by.

Aggravating.
