Pretty slick!

I like it, but I want the 3dB antenna, as I think that will cover what I need. I don't think these plates would work. I did find that Midland has a ditch light bracket extender that I would probably add to the ditch light bracket when I wanted to add lights. Lights are not a priority right now, so the bracket could work on it's own.

I purchased one of these. I haven't installed it yet, but I mocked it up with the antenna on the hood right in front of the windshield. Looks like there is plenty of clearance when I opened the hood to check.

Will do! It does have some type of cushioning or plastic surface on the mount that comes in contact with the hood.

Does it have protection between the screws and the hood? That's the part that I worry about. It looks like the set screws just contact the hood directly.

Put it on today…I cut a piece of leather out of an old glove and put it between the screws and the hood. Seems pretty sturdy! I placed more inboard in case I want to add some ditch lights soon.

I would have placed it on the other side so it isnt in your line of site as much. Personal opinion but to each thier own

To be honest, I don’t even notice it while driving. Only time I do is when someone asks me what it is.

That looks like the one I have for my 2/70 antenna. I picked it up on eBay. I don’t like how it makes a bigger hood gap on that side. Eventually, when I get a CB, I’ll probably switch to the ditch light brackets to mount them on. But until then, spending $80-130 for a couple of pieces of bent metal seemed dumb. I do have my eye on the 3rd brake light mount too. That one’s even more expensive, but it looks good.

How did you get the cable through the firewall and into the cabin? What I want to do is nearly identical.
