Hey Guys,

Out first tank with the ranger took 17.1 gallons when the gas light came on. Usually there is a larger buffer between gas light and empty.
All the Ford literature says 18 gallon tank, but interestingly enough in the FORscan software the default says 19 gallons...

So 18 or 19?
Mine is a 4X4 XLT - I think they are all the same on every version though...

Interesting.. That would certainly make more sense as usually you have around 2 gallons left when the gas light comes on in most vehicles...

Just curious what other folks are finding as far as how much gas it takes when you are down near empty. I'm sure someone has run it down to 0 miles and then filled up. I bet it takes over 18 gallons in that case....

I actually have put in 20 gallons of gas a couple weeks ago in my 2020 ranger xlt. I did drive it for a while with the gas light on. But was amazed the gas pump said 20 gallons.

That's what happens when you fill it to the top of the neck, or as close to that as the pump will allow.

actually those pumps are calibrated before being inspected and sealed by the county or state.
We had a 5 gallon can that was tapered at the top with a glass bubble that showed you exactly how much was in the can. After pumps were repaired or replaced we needed t re-calibrate the readout so it would dispense more then 4.5 gal (90%) but less than 5 gallons (100%) so we were within the 10% range. this was to compensate for the thermal expansion characteristics of gasoline.
we were buying fuel at 95deg F from the refinery, but when transfered to underground tank it would cool to about 58deg F and the fuel would condense and he would loose volume.

Where can you find such information? This is astounding! And in written form, no less! Amazing!
Well... Above the attachment I typed, "From your Owner's Manual."
Seriously, You can download it here. Saves me a trip out to the garage.
