For those with this feature in your truck, have you found a way to disable the operation of this feature when the truck is not running, or on accessory? seems that it works all the time. I park outside and always enter home through garage, but I cannot find a way to disable it if the truck is park / locked as it seems it can be functional all the time. thoughts? and yes I did the search and could not come up with anything related to my concern.

I just hit the vacation button on my garage door opener switch, if I have to leave the vehicle in the driveway. I don't believe there's a way to disable it in the truck.

Doesn't it time out after a bit?

If not I would "unpair" it from your door. My vehicles that sit outside don't have openers in them. I use the keypad when driving them.

The two vehicles that sit outside are paired for tha door opener for the security oncern. When I leave take a door opener remote with me.

Does the visor truly remain powered at all times? Or does it power down when the BCM goes to sleep, which takes a few minutes after the truck is parked? If the LEDs in the door lock buttons are still lit, the BCM is still awake.

My guess is that if the remote/key for the truck is not near the truck and if someone breaks in to the truck the button remote on the visor for the garage door would not work??? Just thinking outside the box here!! The key fob top pulls off and there is a magic key in there. . It took a while for me to figure that one out. LOL.

simple test, leave the driver window open. shut off the truck and come back in a period of time and reach thru the open window and try it. Without the key/fob in your pocket or nearby obviously.
second test , does opening the door wake up the electronics and the keypad?

I have a Subaru where the Homelink buttons are only active when the accessory is turned on. At least for me, I prefer the Ranger keeping the buttons active all the time.

I do understand the OPs concern.

It will be great if the unit is disable when the FOB is not nearby.

Once you open the door, fob or no fob, it wakes up.

The button will work with the truck off. I've used it in the morning while in the garage after it sat all night.
I'm curious though, because the lariat (push button start) will power up some stuff when the door is opened, even if the key fob is not present. Just wondering if that powers up the keypad too?

Right, so I guess we need to do the 'open window' test to see if the keypad is on all the time, or only when the system wakes up.

I added in a Lariat visor and wired it to accy on. If you really wanted to you could make the same hard wire mod.

I just opened the window and will test it later. Seems rather sloppy if it is, in fact, on all the time. My truck is always in the garage anyway, but seems like a bad design if it is.
