Fuel in oil

Mines still good according to my daily "scratch and sniff" test that I now do evey morning since first seeing this thread and freaking out way back when I first got the Ranger ... (get up, pee, let the dogs ? out, limp to garage and pop hood on the Ranger, pull the dipstick and sniff for fuel while scratching my ass, all while choosing to ignore the car bomb with a random fuse ((10R80)) that came installed from the factory)

Do you do that before or after lighting up a spliff ?

I do not know specifically if this test is available for the 2.3, but scan tools have a capability of doing this test on the vehicle. (Injector Relative Flow Test) I have not done this with a Ford, but I have done it on GM's.
I do know that for the 2.3 there is a Cylinder Balance Test that will show (pinpoint) affected cylinders.

The modern way is to use the Fuel Rail Pressure (PID) and note the pressure drop on the rail.

With the older GM's - you hook up a Fuel Press Gauge on the rail - pulse the injector and then measure the pressure drop - if you have a high pressure drop indicates a leaking injector.

I used to do crude diesel injector bench tests back in the 90's when I worked as a farm tractor mechanic. The device applied fuel pressure with a lever and had a gage to monitor the pressure when it fired. A leaky injector would start to release fuel before it reached the proper firing pressure. Probably a whole different technology now, especially for gas injectors.

It is something that although is LEGAL in nearly all 50 states, until the Federal Government, most importantly the FAA makes it legal - I CANNOT TOUCH IT. Subject to randoms at ANY TIME and if popped (+) would be the END of my career - No Exceptions, so 30 + year career down the drain for 1 toke of a joint - Not worth the risk.
I suspect somewhere down the road it will be legal on the Federal level and am curious how they will implement - Drug Testing (Randoms) - What will the Timeline (Rule) be? from last toke before reporting to work. How are other companies dealing with this issue now? - Are you allowed to report to work stoned?

This is one of the laws that is hard to adjust to, being in a store and smell what I grew up with (High School - Party Days) known as Skunk Weed and this is now commonplace.

You and I will probably still not be able to touch the stuff even if the feds legalize it.

Even now, GA POST says that you can use CBD, but if it shows up anything on a drug test, you're SOL.

Legalization was on the ballot in 4 states in Nov, only passed in 2, Nebraska iirc it passed. In colorado where it was the 1st or 2nd state to legalize sales have slowed and use for those under 18 has actually declined. Tax revenues from legal sales have contributed millions to education, parks, etc and it's no longer controversial, whereas drugs like fentenal have caused many deaths. Neither my kids or wife use it, I do as it's effective in getting a good nights sleep as my aching arthritic joints can disrupt sleep.

Also this whole fuel in oil is real, just not a problem. For these DI turbo engines is normal. Just change your oil often

First 44k miles I drove it often, long distance drives, and changed oil often ~6months or whenever I got to 40% life, around 6k miles each time. Blackstone report with each. Minimal fuel, all other indicators good

This past oil change, it was parked a lot and short trips. Drove another vehicle for awhile, didn't offroad or camp much, focused on other things. 8 months and 1200 miles only. Oil was definitely smelly. Only when the Blackstone report comes shall I know for sure

All of that and work your truck like it is meant to be worked. Buy a trailer and tow heavy things often!!

I'm kidding, mostly. I think a lot of 'truck problems' are because we expect our trucks to be luxury cars most of the time.

Sorry for having diverting a legit thread into something about pot. Lord knows I have smoked my fair share of it. And I am realizing within the last several years there are actual health benefits. I generally steer clear of it as a conceal carry license holder, as that would be a major angle against you if you have THC in your system in an altercation.

How did they determine leaking injectors, bench tests?

So, my service order says they did an "EEC SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS -(Quick Test)-L" not sure if that means anything to you?
