I have been monitoring mine and checking at various times during the month. It does have a slight smell of fuel in the oil but the level has never changed and is always near the top mark for the lat 9 months. I'm still on the factory fill tho and thinking it could be from engine break-in. I've been following this thread for quite awhile and started checking after reading. My oil is due to be changed soon and is at 29% because of age vs use, I'm just under 4k miles.

It's crazy how folks levels are fluctuating and in that little of time/mileage!

They tell me there's an acceptable amount of fuel that's normal, never heard what that amount is tho. Supposedly all direct inject engines have some fuel in the oil. I would imagine it's a low amount tho.

@N. J. Jim Good to know and maybe that's what I'm smelling. There isn't a super strong smell of fuel. I have to stick my nose close to the wipe cloth to get a hint of it. It's my first DI engine so it did catch me a little off guard.

Update: Changed my oil yesterday at ~2000 miles. Level was just slightly above the top hole on the dipstick, same as it was when I first started keeping an eye on it, though it has seemed to fluctuate slightly over time. Slight odor of fuel, but nothing extreme. I pulled a sample to send to Blackstone since I trust their analytical equipment a whole lot more than I trust my nose. Current plan (subject to change depending on the results of the UOA or a sudden increase in oil level) is to just keep monitoring it and run this oil for 4-5k miles.
Looks like it's time to change my plan.

Are you taking it to the dealer?. I think Ford is starting to see this is a problem, but it needs to be reported. In my opinion, Ford needs to be hammered with complaints so they know it's just more then a few trucks.

First thing I did was forward the Blackstone report to the dealer. They responded pretty quick that I should continue to keep an eye on it, and they'll be watching for any service bulletins. He suggested that maybe it could be related to sitting on the lot for a while (Sept. build that I bought in January), getting frequently started just to move it a few spots, so it would never have been getting warm enough to evaporate the gas out and that extra fuel is still in there.

I have to go in at some point for some minor, completely unrelated warranty work, so I'll bring up again when I'm there and see if they have anything else to say. I guess if there's no significant rise in oil, I'll change it after another 2000 miles and get another analysis done.

Dont fall for the BS about short run times being the cause. What you need to do is introduce them to the owners manual (excessive crankcase level )and this forum. We've had at least one dealer stepping up and doing their job.

It order for it to be effective to point out what the owner's manual says about excessive crankcase level, I need to have some evidence of excessive crankcase level. When I did the oil change, the level was just barely above the top hole on the dipstick, same as it was when I first checked it 1300 miles earlier. Consistent with the observed oil level, the Blackstone analysis suggests I had "only" about a cup of fuel in the oil, which isn't enough to make a dramatic change in the oil level (not like the folks that are reporting oil up into the twist).

While there's people whose dealers are looking into it further, there's also people who have been told that it will resolve itself with time (for the record, my dealer didn't say this; he said to keep an eye on it and keep them updated). And indeed, some (though certainly not all!) of those people have reported improvement. The fact that the level was the same the day I changed it as it had been 1300 miles prior gives me hope that my truck is improving. I certainly don't have any grounds to argue otherwise right now.

So for now, I'm going to continue to keep a very close eye on it and report back to the dealer.

Truck is back. Dealer put new High Pressure Fuel pump on and scoped the spark plug hole to look for leaks. All looks good. Will see if this works. ?????. Told me to keep a eye on the oil level and let them know.

Just got mine back too, new High Pressure Fuel Pump everything looks good now. I hope it stays like that. They told me to keep an eye on it and bring it back in 200 miles they want to make sure everything is alright!! Got damn good service nothing to complain about with the dealer!!
