I received the cable this weekend and immediately did the brake recalibrate. Holy crap what a difference. That was worth the price of the cable and some... Seriously. Its brakes like a real truck now. Cant believe it.

Given that forscan is free... man what a deal.

Question - I could not figure out how to disable the ASS within forscan. What am I missing??

I didn't get the lifetime license an I heard since they're in Russia you can't renew it. Any truth to that?

forscan newb, but would like to give it a try if for no other reason than to fix the crappy brakes. my problem is i dont own a laptop, and my desktop is a good thirty feet from the location in the truck where the elm327 plugs in. there are a few extensions out there but the longest i found was only about 2 ft long. couldnt really find how long the cable on the elm327 adapter is but the pics suggest it wouldnt be nearly long enough. and my understanding is the forscan lite app wont let one make any changes, correct? any other options for me?

I don't think there is anything other than getting a cheap windows laptop. You can get a used windows laptop for around $100. I use a VERY old (Windows XP) notebook when doing FORScan. Pretty much anything windows will work with it.

Yeah, you can probably find a serviceable Windows laptop cheaper than the cable it would take to connect your computer.

Edited to add Windows. Don't buy a Chromebook.

I went looking for a cheap laptop for forscan too. I found some decent ones for around $150 but I shelled out $250 for one with more memory an storage an a newer faster processor. I should have gone cheap because I don't think I turned it on after making my changes on the ranger.

A 30 foot active USB extension might work.

If i remeber correctly from my 2020, you have to disable it in the bdypcm, and the ipc. The cluster will take the option away on the 4inch screen, and i believe the bdypcm actually disables it. My 2022 has the ass delete. To much lmao.

I know bad dad joke

I tried a USB extension with VCDS on my Volkswagens and it wouldn't work at all, however a OBD2 extension worked just fine and it works with Forscan as well.

I have a desktop in my garage and the Forscan recommended cable works fine when extended with the OBD2 extension. It's 16 feet long.

... rear seat belt malfunction alert? It's not that big a deal cuz once you press okay it goes away until you start the truck again. Having a rear seat delete if you unhook your rear seat sensors you'll get this and was just curious if I could fix this small annoyance. I've completely removed the seat belts and I'm not interested in leaving them connected bundled in the back somewhere as that takes away from a clean install of my project.
Was able to get rear seat malfunction off with Forscan in the IPC as built. Not sure if this will help. Change xxx8-xxxx to xxx0-xxxx.

I couldn’t get the air bag light off so I bought some extra seat belt buckles on eBay going to cut them up and hide them under platform.

If you enable the heated seats in FORSCAN (so that you get the seat option on the climate control screen) can you then control them from the touchscreen? I'm gradually researching trying to add heated seats and it doesn't seem like you can buy the seat switch by itself. Of course this is assuming I can get the wiring to the factory connections.

I used ForScan to add the heated seat icons to the Sync screen. The actual buttons are down so low on the center stack that they are hard to see and require taking my eyes off the road to use. Having the icons on the Sync screen solved that, always use the Sync icons to control the heated seats now.

Question on factory alarm. When I test drove my truck, as soon as you start a siren sound goes off inside for several seconds. Salesman says it is the demo mode for the alarm. So when I buy they try to sell the alarm system for $700 which I declined so they said it would be disabled but it wasn't so I get that every time I start. Dealer says schedule a service appointment and they will turn it off. Question is, can this be done with Forscan, either disable or fully activate?

That does not sound like a factory alarm, sounds like a dealer aftermarket alarm they install and try to upsale you on. Others have found these and they have usually hacked up the factory wireing haress to install. If its worthy anywhere near $700 why would they just disable it and leave it installed?
