I was really interested in these to replace my wife's 2013 Escape XLT 2.0 Ecoboost, but what killed it for me were the engine options. I am not interested in the hybrid powertrain and the potential issues down the road (she likes to keep a vehicle for 10 years) and the 1.5 EcoBoost is woefully underpowered. I was really disappointed because these ST Line Escapes are pretty slick-looking! We just got her a Bronco Sport Badlands (2.0!).

The AWD ST-Line comes with the 2.0 Ecoboost and it definitely has plenty of power. I made sure to go with one that did have the 2.0 and factory tow package (3,500 lbs).

I have to agree that the 1.5L is underpowered. My parents have a 2019 Escape with the 1.5L.

Are you sure? I steered away from it because of that 1.5.

It will depend on the trim level you go with for what power train is available in the Escape. Yes they do make some AWD models with the 1.5L

The Active is only available with the 1.5L. The St-Line is available with the 1.5L or or 2.5L. The ST-Line Select, Platinum, and St-Line Elite are only available with the 2.0L or 2.5L Hybrid. This info is direct from Ford's website.

I have the Escape St-Line Select AWD with the factory tow package and it has the 2.0L Ecoboost in it. According to Ford's website, the 2.0L Ecoboost is your only option with the factory tow package which is rated at 3,500 lbs. All other engine options are rated at 1,500 to 2,000 lbs towing capacity.

Well damn! When they announced the ST line, when I went to build and prove them there was no ST Select! Damn it!

That 2.0 is a good motor.

The ST Line is new for the 2023 model year. Starting with 2023 there is the Active, St-Line, ST-Line Select, Platinum, and St-Line Elite trim levels. Ford did away with the S, SE and Titanium trim levels.

And I would have looked at something different if I could not have gotten AWD and a factory tow package.

Did they do a facelift on that; it seems to look way better now. The escape got a bit weird for a bit. I hate to say it.. but I really like the idea of that with the 2.0 vs the 1.5. Id say maybe in a bit but I think the Escape is going away soon?

Rumor has it that the Escape and Edge are going away.

And yes I do like the looks of the 2023 Escape over old models. So far I am loving the ST-Line Select and I am averaging 30 MPG so far with the 2.0L and AWD

Yes the 2023 models got a face lift. And the 2.0L Ecoboost makes plenty of power. Using Sport mode will definitely throw you back into the seat. And the ST Line definitely handles well with its European style sports touring suspension.

I have had two escapes. A 2015 and a 2019. Loved then both. Sold them both when we bought the Ranger and edge that we have now. It will take good care of you both.
I had an 06 with the stick, hated to let it go but with my back issues and neuropathy the stick became an issue. Over 100K on the odo and absolutely Zero issues. I don’t count rotors as an issue, mine warped early on and I put Brembo rotor and pads when I had 20K on it, never had to change the Brembo pads and rotors never warped. Original clutch as well. Great little SUV

I'm kicking myself a little because as soon as they announced the ST-Line Escape, I looked into them to replace my wife's 2013 XLT 2.0 and was displeased with the initial motor option. And I further dig into believing the 1.5 and Hybrid were the only options because the local dealer is ONLY ordering 1.5 Escapes (and Bronco Sports!) for the sales lot. Nice looking ride - they've sure made them look sportier and nicer with just some small touches. I like it.

So far I am very happy with the 23 Escape ST Line Select. The 2.0L with AWD gets excellent fuel mileage and handles great.

I dropped the Escape off at the dealership this morning to get a few things done and noticed one of the salesman had bought my Ranger. I didn't think it would last long on the lot with only 20,000 miles on it.

@Glocker I guess it depends on where the dealership is located and what sells best as far as what they order. The dealership where I bought my Escape stocks mostly the ST-Line Select with either 2.0L or 2.5L Hybrid along with a few with the Active trim package (lowest trim package with 1.5L).

The dealership is located in a big college town where the UM Tigers are along with several other colleges. Plus there are three major hospitals in town. SO there are a lot of doctors, lawyers. and teachers/professors who will buy the higher priced ST Line. The Active gets bought by college kids or lower income families.

My local stocking dealer is the one I used to work for - and the impression I got was they were loading up on the 1.5 EcoBoost because they can move a HUGE volume of the cheaper but nicely equipped versions of the vehicle. We almost submitted an order for a 2.0 Badlands Bronco Sport with them when a perfect one popped up at a perfect price, 3.5 hours north of us in the Orlando area. It was worth the 8-hour experience to get our hands on the 2.0! Congrats on the slick-looking ride.
