wow... the worst part of ford is the dealers.

I've been ready to place an order for over a week now and have passed on 3 dealers because of incompetence and lack of effort. I also don't need to buy a vehicle, so I can wait. I would love to get rid of the dealership experience. I've avoided them for 25 years because they are terrible. I know more than them and what I want... Just let me hit "buy it now".

I also wouldn't let the dealer install anything... I know the work that happens at dealerships.

Not sure yet
Side note: FORD should just eliminate the ASS feature and it will save a bunch of chips right there! :like: It's NOT a safety feature, and I, like others, would probably NOT go back to get this feature installed :p:rockon::fingerscrossed:

Maybe my order for a "dumb" Scab XL 100A will receive favor because it needs fewer chips... ?

Ford is pushing units out of the factory so fast future recalls are in the making,,
I got 7 recalls for my other truck during non covid times, I really don't think it matters. All the big factories hammer vehicles down the assembly line, that's nothing new.

Funny how we are supposed to be patient when it comes to something they owe us, but not so much so when the coin is flipped, like say a payment... Just the way I see things... As a Construction Project Manager, when I wrote a subcontract and had to use the liquidated damages clause, I only felt it fair to also include a counter clause rewarding the sub for early delivery of their piece of the project.... Ford's "major investment" in their Bronco hardtop contractor was a total failure, probably due to no oversite of them from a qualified Ford PM? Don't expect any of this topic to be much different since getting people back to work has been problematic!

Here are a couple articles of the big auto manufactures and what features they are removing in order to ship and sell more product. Some big names here too not just Ford, GM and Chrysler. Take a look at what’s being left off certain models of Audi, BMW and Cadillacs.

Touchcreens
Surround view cameras
Emergency braking
Active cruise control
Heated Seats
Heated steering wheel
HD Radio
Satellite Navigation
Wireless charging
Premium Audio
Power Seats
USB Ports
Auto start stop
Blind spot monitoring
Rear traffic alert
Ambient lighting

It looks like those waiting for their new Ranger will only have the A/S/S deleted which for most will be a good thing. It's an Aussie based article but so far we've seen the same over here.

Ford
Ranger (outgoing model)

Ford has deleted automatic stop/start from the feature list for most outgoing Ranger models due to the semiconductor shortage.

“Due to semi-conductor supply constraints, and to ensure customers receive their vehicles without additional delay, certain Rangers arrive in Australia from January 2022 are not being produced with Auto Stop/Start,” said a Ford Australia spokesperson.

“This includes Ranger Double Cab XL, XLT, FX4, Wildtrak and Wildtrak X models fitted with our 2.0L BiTurbo engine with 10-speed automatic transmission.”

The outgoing Everest, which uses the same engine, is unaffected.

Why would anyone take delivery of a new car that had all (or most) of those items missing? Getting to be like a car of the 80s.

Man I’d be frustrated if I showed up to take delivery if it isn’t all there. This is my first experience buying a brand new vehicle.

Wouldn't buy one. I have a basic vehicle, albeit a toy, i.e. '73 Bronco, so that box is checked. Our Intel chip plant in Albuquerque used to have empty parking lots since their significant reduction in production some years past. Our last trip by there a week or so back saw the parking lots (finally) at capacity. Used to build clean rooms in Idaho (memory chips) so get how these places function... don't know what processer chip(s) they are making, but they announced they were coming back on line when the chip shortage first came up over a year ago. Retooling would take about this much time so am optimistic they are in the fight to get us renormalized. The main chip production facilities (out country) are at max production and still behind the necessary power curve. The Pandemic is officially over, though C-19 is still out there (and will always be now), people are still slow to get back in the saddle. I see a year, probably more of this mess before we can readily access/purchase what we want again. According to my MBA-PM teachings, the evolution of the circumstances causing change (read: mess) will result in a new norm that we can not predict yet. Demand has driven Supply for a long while, now it has reversed - Supply is limiting availability, regardless of Demand (see toilet paper behavior). We are in a state of significant evolution that will result in a whole new consumer environment over the next couple years. Too many influencers in the mix now to allow the experts to develop a realistic model of what this will be. I still think the business axiom is alive and well that states in part, people will behave how they are "told to", regardless the validity of the stated/ predicted outcome. You know, the toilet paper shortage, caused by misinformation and peoples panicked reaction which was the actual cause of the shortage.

I agree Kent and do you trust them to get these fixed for you once they come in? Supposedly they're saying within 1 year but we all know it's most likely going to be longer than that. Certain things I wouldn't have a problem waiting on like heated seats, A/S/S, USB ports or power seats but no way I'm spending $50K+ and not having my touchscreen or navigation.
