My Tremor which is being built this week better be working 100% or i won't accept delivery. I am not paying top dollar for a 90% finished product.
Heated seats better work, power everything, etc. I will walk
Best of luck to you but be prepared for something not to be . I work at a facility that cast and machine aluminum parts for most of the auto manufactors . We are having trouble getting many things to stay on schedule . Currently one of the biggest lines is a battery enclosure for a very popular off road EV . When it leaves here it has all the cooling hoses etc to be a complete drop in unit but the supplier of the hoses can not get us enough parts . They can not get the chemicals to make the hoses. Another popular unit is a 4cyl engine block and our supplier for the cylinder liners are having a tough time getting us the parts . The trucking industry is having major issues also which affects everything from getting raw materials to delivering the final product . Nothing is going to get better anytime soon . Of course it's all due to Covid and Russia

They will ship them at a later date within 1 year. From what Benny has said it sounds easy just plug n play but we've all heard our share of horror stories from members who's dealers can't even do a simple oil change. Hopefully this is easy and doesn't create more problems. One that I see is that a lot of dealers are so backed up now because of labor shortages. How long will you have to let you vehicle sit at the dealer to get these installed?

Per the article:
We will be waiting awhile to get them all installed after the fact . Remember the Takita airbag recall and the waiting list ? That was safety related also . Even if it is plug& play you are correct in that some can't do simple oil changes correctly . Be prepared for cracked panels , broken clips , rattles etc :(

To bad you couldn't pick these up from the dealer and instal them yourself. The thought of letting someone at the dealership tear my dash apart scares me. I know they do this every day but the work force just isn't what it use to be. Oh well looks like I'll be hanging on to my '19 Ranger longer than usual and getting the extended warranty this summer.

Well dang, my reading comprehension just ain't what I used to be. That's doable, but your'e correct, the caliber of workers these days is questionable. I just hope this turns around soon, as the dealers in my area (and I'm sure across the country) are hurting. Last fall my local Ford dealer had maybe 8 new F-150's, and 2 chips to move from truck to truck for test drives. The times are crazy.........

The dash panels are designed to be installed easily from the factory and that's it. its about speed and efficiency. they are never the same once you remove and replace, especially with the thinner plastics they use now.

It looks like the temporary trim piece will get replaced when the module shows up, at least on Explorer.

This should be interesting to say the least.

Another reason I wouldn't buy the first generation Ranger Raptor. With all the cost cutting and eventual missed steps I can see it being a shit show for sure.

With petroleum at record highs right now, prices are going to be insane for virtually every product. Petroleum is so ingrained in our society, and the true backbone of our economy that starts at the manufacture of the product. Consider how many products require petroleum to be produced in the first place, anything made of plastic / aspirin / shaving cream / soap - detergents / fertilizer / lubricants and the list goes on and on and on. It then takes petroleum to get the product to you and petroleum for you to get to the product. As we shift to EV, sure our transportation demands on petroleum will go down, but simple supply and demand will dictate all the daily products that require petroleum will substantially rise. We often correlate product increases (inflation) with transportation costs due to petroleum increases, but when you look at how many products that require petroleum in order to be manufactured in the first place you can start to see why so many products are going to cost the consumer much much more in the future, and that will just get compounded post Covid with manufacture's looking to make back past profit losses.

Thanks. I understand shortages are all over the place but Ford shouldn't ship a vehicle if it isnt completed and let the customer take delivery. Guess we will see. I really want this truck but i am not willing to have options not working on day one

I tend to agree with you but I guess it would depend on what was missing. If it were heated seats, mirrors or rear climate controls I'd be ok with them installing these later as long as it's in writing. Now if it were the radio, nav (or the whole sync 4) or cameras I'd have to think twice about this.

At this point I don't trust ANY manufacturer for an IOU. Make sure you read the fine print thoroughly so there's nothing hidden opting them out if they can't deliver within the year. Seeing as it's not a safety feature I can see this happening.

I wouldn't trust the dealers to tell buyers either. I bet some aren't going to find out until after they get their vehicle home.

Imagine buying a truck with heated seats, you don't try them out on the test drive because it's summer. Winter comes along so you turn them on and that's when you realize you got an IOU.

Hell I would love a pickup with lots of delete options. With the corresponding reduction in price. I could make a list a mile long of un necessary stupid stuff that they put on pickup trucks so the little car people can drive them.

This what certain politicians don't understand. They think petroleum is just used for gas and oil. That's what happens when the dumbest among us get elected?

Yeah it will depend on what is missing i suppose. Heated seats is a must for me,rear climate controls probably won't care. Power seats must be working, radio, remote start, must work.
I am already not pleased with the hood struts, engine cover, rocker plugs to have anything else left off.

Good point to get this in writing, never trust a salesman or dealership with we promise.
