This is regarding the taillight connector under the truck.

When I look on the Ford website it shows no recalls for my truck.

They have contacted me wanting to buy my truck a few times, which I've declined, and I'm wondering if this is an excuse to get my truck at the dealership (my servicing dealer is much closer than my selling dealer)

Their story is that they need to look at this and make sure it was done right.

If that's the case, wouldn't it show up on the Ford app or the Ford website?

Have any of you been contacted by your dealer concerning this?

There's a recall for certain 2019 Rangers concerning tail light connectors, recall # 19V839000. This is the NHTSA #. The Ford recall # is 19S43.
Just google up 2019 Ford Ranger Recalls and it will list what trucks are affected by vin. and manufacturing date.
Simple recall...they just check the lighting connectors.

You can look at it yourself but until Ford looks at it and enters their finding in the Ford system they are going to show it as an open recall. Just go and get it done. I'm sure you have the self control to not sell you truck back to them.

It's best to get it done, even though you could simply check it yourself.
Dealer does it and it shows as completed on your vehicles history by vin, so there's no problem in the future if you decide to sell or trade.
Of course, you could be blinded by the need to get a new 2022 or order a new 2023.....:handsinair:

The thing is, this doesn't show as an open recall on my truck.

I think @RANGER PRIDE may be correct in that they may have pencil-whipped it before delivery and it's now coming around to bite them in the backside.

My truck has had the recall listed on the FordPass app since the day I bought it and it was certified preowned and also I got a letter in the mail maybe 6 months after having it regarding the recall as well. Personally I don’t plan on ever bringing it into the dealership unless I absolutely have to

I received a letter a few months back. Tail lights were working fine. Had them perform/check the recall. They said it was fine

Now last week my tail lights went out. Both assemblies dead

I hate taking it to the dealer

If anything you could contact your servicing dealer to see what they have to say. Is it possible it was pencil whipped? Maybe but then again the Recall is easy to follow. As for the dealer wanting to buy it back tell them that you will accept for some rediculous amount like........ $1,000,000!!

I went by my servicing dealer at lunch to schedule getting a few other things done and had them check this recall.

Ford says it was performed 2 weeks before I bought my truck when it had 5 miles on it.

I was planning on dropping it off to have some warranty work done before my B2B runs out in December but they said if I dropped it off today it would be 5 days before they even got to it. :crying:

The seat clunk (TSB 20-2171. Happens very rarely) I can do myself, but I'm also going to have them check the HVAC (SSM 49264) and replace the parking brake boot (again).

The only other issue I have is that auto start/stop no longer functions and some here have said that's a sign the battery needs to be replaced. I'll let Ford pay for that replacement.

So you know car manufacturers can turn off and on features remotely on our cars, case in point Toyota turning off remote start unless you subscribe… maybe the tail lights are also controlled!?!

Update, with the help of a friend, I was able to troubleshoot and fix the issue, without taking it to the dealer

I used the 30 page PDF someone posted here

It all basically boils down to pin #20. The pin is either bent or it pushes the wire out or both

Both in my case. So after pulling the connector apart, bending the pin back, and pushing the wire back in, I am back in business

Posting so the next guy can save some time if you don't want to deal with the hassle of the dealer

My dealer checked mine on the recall and said it was fine. They said that Ford Corporate is on the dealers to get these done.
