This is from Jalopnik. I don't think it's interesting in itself (because Jalopnik is mostly garbage), but it
does speak to two important points about Jalopnik and other blogs out there:

1) Jalopnik prides itself on its comments sections, and if you ever read the comment sections you
may get depressed. You would think that everyone in America is a communist if this was an
accurate cross section. But it certainly is not accurate, it's rigged: you can only comment on Jalopnik
if you are deemed acceptable by the Jalopnik staff (i.e. to get approved you have to prove a track-record
of extremist posts).

2) This article was written by the commentariat (not Jalopnik staff). A lot of their posts are like this. Early
in the day they will ask the mouth breathing communists their opinions on things, and later in the day
they will cut and paste the comments into an article. High journalism.

*please note that this post is not political in the sense that it is critical of neither major political party. Unless
that party is the communist party. Which neither is.

The only entertaining jalop articles aren't articles, they're blog pieces by guys fascinated by obscure and/or (rightfully) forgotten cars that they try to save from the junkyard. The rest is pretty low quality, though I don't know how it qualifies as communism...

How dare someone speak of the K-car like that! They were the best in '82!

While directed at the Ranger, it seems to be commentary on the car market as a whole with everything across the board getting larger and more complicated each year. Some people just miss the old stuff for their own reasons.

Don't think on it too much or let it bother you :).

Clutches pearls.

Not a hit piece, it's the author's opinion.

Ford has the Maverick now, so if he thinks the Ranger is too large, get a Maverick.

For me the Ranger is about the same size as a 2004 and earlier F-150, so it fits that role well.

F-150s are larger than older Super Dutys now. It is pretty crazy.

The Ranger is no longer a compact pickup. In 2011 it moved to the mid-size segment.

So no matter what year 150 you compare the Ranger to, they are all bigger.
Except 2003 150 short bed standard cab may be shorter than 5g ranger that doesn't come n standard cab.

Lee Iacocca would appreciate the continued support - he did a pretty good job keeping Chrysler solvent, plus he worked for Ford at one time, IIRC correctly one of the Ford family drove him out of the company.

However I thought the K cars as being nothing special.

Just a literal physical comparison...was looking for an F-150 when it dawned on me to check my garage dimensions (house build in 85). The 2011 (correction 2018) F-150 Extended Cab specs showed that there would only be 1/2" clearance from the front of the garage wall to the garage door  Really glad to have opted for the Ranger...a little over 10" clearance to walk in front of it and 10" behind it...very comfortable! :)

I made a post about jalopnik looking for better websites and got a good list of them (thanks again everyone!). I agree Jalopnik is garbage, so it follows the comments section would be filled with garbage. The company recently changed hands and revived Gawker, who proceeded to publish an article about how they stole Kyrsten Sinema's Social Security number.
