i think you nailed it dave. people dont want to buy a new "old" ranger. they will wait for the 6g. plus these are tough days and the mavy has a lower price.

The price of the Maverick is extremely good. Couple that with good payload, larger more comfortable interior, and fantastic road manners, the Maverick is probably a better deal for most people. If I didn’t have the goal of towing my JK to the trailhead, it probably would fit my needs better too.

It really is they aren't making enough. Las Vegas and the Phoenix metro area don't have a dozen new Rangers for sale between them.
Peoria Ford shows eight but they are all special order and probably spoken for. Green window stickers.

I bought a new Maverick FX4 Lariat drove it for 7000 miles and traded it for my Ranger Tremor. The Maverick was a nice truck but I could never get the ergonomics of the interior to work for me...never comfortable. I hated the "Active X" upholstery. The mechanics and drivability were great. Inside not so much!

I saw the writing on the wall and pulled everything out in June of '08. Stuck it all in a money market account and road it out until early '09 and jumped back in and did great up until 18 months or so ago. I pulled it all back out again and have been sitting on the sidelines waiting now for the inevitable. I'm way to close to retiring now and no way am I going to lose it and start over. I'd rather have a few flat years and preserve my capital throw it all away to the wolves of Wall Street!
I gambled short and lost big! 40% of my rather sizable investment. I still have not recovered it.

We just finished that limited series on Netflix last night on Bernie Madoff- if that doesn’t make you paranoid, nothing will.

I think chips hurt Ranger sales so who knows what it could have been.
My dealer every time I stopped in didn't have a Ranger except for a Expensive trim from time to time.

I just think sales number for the past year mean nothing. I mean if you can buy one.

I test drove my daughter's Maverick and came to the same conclusion. Interior is cheap, and uncomfortable. I also prefer a more upright comfortable seating position. Sitting too low makes that hood look long and wide.

I understand the tradeoff for aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, but I don't like it from an ergonomic perspective.

Interesting you should mention the hood. Exactly my experience. It was almost as if the hood rose up in the front, very weird.

IMO, all talk of ranger sales is just BS because the 5g ranger never got a single normal production year in the US. (They were just ramping up in 2019, then COVID, then the Bronco.) Nobody has any idea how many 5g rangers ford could sell here in a year because they've never managed to produce enough of them to fulfill demand on an annual basis.

that's what people said after they fucked up the explorer rollout, before the bronco rollout...
Maybe third time is a charm? Or will it be three strikes and you 're out?

In the last 2 years the Maverick outsold the Ranger by just over 20%. Looks like part of the reason could be supply chain issues and the other bring the Ranger is going through a refresh this year and some wasn't the newer 6G. It also could be what I've said many times that their advertising (or lack there of) is much better for the Maverick . Then take into consideration the high price of gas we saw last year and the very low price point the base Maverick had when it first launched and this makes sense. Hopefully the next Gen Ranger sales improve because they're losing ground on most of the completion too.
