Well, I now have the opportunity to order a Ford Lightning. Of course, the prices have increased roughly $15k since Ford starting taking reservations, and the dealer I reserved it through has been way less than helpful. Part of me wants to order anyways, maybe through another dealer, and part of me wants to cancel. Yes, the lower level trims are not available, and the pricing is crazy. I don't need it. My wife and I have two Fords (ranger and explorer) but this whole experience has soured us on Ford. Anyone here ordered the lightning? I've been on the F150 forum. It is a circus. I also reserved an electric silverado, and may be looking at a few PHEV or electric cars as a third vehicle.

Honestly if you really don't need it I'd cancel it. With that big of a price increase you could always wait and get a PHEV Ranger in a couple years.

I would wait. All you would be buying right now is highly overpriced hype. Let it go through it's first few years of problems and get ironed out. Right now nobody "needs" one because they can't do anything as well as a real truck yet. People are spending way to much money to be the first kid on the block to have one.

Holy crap! The "Pro" is twice what Soupie cost!

Are batteries included? LOL

It, like many vehicles right now, are not worth their price tag. If you have the spare change and just want a toy, go for it….although I recommend a Bass Boat. ;)

This is about the only bass anything I can afford right now. ?

Agreed, way to much for the lightning or any F150 nowadays. Plus, range is still a concern. I think the PHEV Ranger will be the key, enough electric range to get to work and back, and gas for towing and long trips.

It's the curved TV of trucks... :p. I didn't buy that either.

I reserved one hoping for a Pro. Waited until September to finally be able to order and the XLTs were gone before I blinked. Even then I didn’t want to afford that truck. At pro prices with tax credits and living in SoCal it would have been awesome. It’s not worth it at all at current prices. Wait until the hype is over and charging networks are better.

Talked to a guy this weekend who has the Lariat and his battery has already $h!t the bed. Not good for a truck less than 6 months old.

I ended up ordering the Lariat to get my dealer not to charge me an ADM on a Mav XLTremor. Couldn’t get that order build yet so I got a sweet used ranger instead. I was only buying the Mav because the used prices on trucks out here were insane and the Mav at ~$35k was all I wanted to spend for that truck. Once the used prices came down the Mav was making less sense to me.

Having thought through all of this a lot I don’t think the Lightning is worth it right now.

I asked the dealer and they said no. I was thinking of flipping it myself but the markets falling, they are sitting on lots with ADMs and I can’t take a chance I don’t come out ahead after tax/title on a $90k msrp truck. When deliveries first started arriving people here were paying as much as $40k over list. Now, I don’t know if it would be easy to get enough to break even

Going to wait….I’m also exploring switching dealerships. Ford and the dealerships have handled this about as well as SWA handled things over Christmas.

You cannot switch dealers once ordered unless the dealer transfers it. Most won’t do that as they want you to walk away from it for the ability to mark it up.
