Good day people!
So I spent a weekend at the track & decided to tow my car as opposed to just driving. This way I could bring BBQ , cooler &
other stuff...

I rented a U-haul car trailer 2000lbs & car, 3000lbs, so a total of close to 5000lbs. I was quite impressed with the truck.
On my way there I was running about 60/65 mph & on the way back closer to 55mph.
On the way there it consumed 15mpg. On the way back 20mpg, with a total being about 18 mpg. This was a 3hr trip each way,
from Montreal to Shannonville.

No issues with the truck but I found getting to 60 was great but above not so much. I did do 70/75 for short time(very short) as I
was just curious.

Truck was fine but the trailler!!!! Not the first time I use U-haul & I always check the tires but this time I was a little exited/nervous
& I did not check the tires. Very, very bad.....

Here are a couple of pics, check the back tire! I did call U-haul roadside maintenance & they were great, no complaints on that side.

Sounds like a great day at the track. This little 2.3 is very impressive when towing. Even the mpg was really good for that weight but you're not towing a travel trailer which acts like a giant parachute behind you. lol

I towed 4-5k pound (guessing) from Florida to Colorado when I moved around this time last year. Truck barely broke a sweat. Limiting factor for me was U-Haul's cheapo trailer tires and not wanting to have a blowout in the middle of nowhere Kansas.

Ranger towing is a treat, the 2.3 punches well above it's weight.

Nope, not a TT, I expect to be down to 10mpg like everyone else.

Looking at the pic, do you guys think I was over the 750lbs tongue weight?
Should the car have been turned around with engine over the the axels?

Hard to determine, especially if you had food/grill and such in the bed. I have one of the Weight Safe hitches with the scale built in I use a lot.

Look fine in the pick. I had a similar run from conroe, tx to mcallen tx. Had my cargo weight just about maxed out. Tongue weight, weight lifting set, tools, jacks, chains, luggage, and the ranger was awesome. Plus a 5000 to 6000 estimated tow. Good times.

I would never tow a car backwards. I take that back I did it once, and learned a hard lesson. A majority of the weight should be in front of the trailer axles. If not the trailer can end up in front of you, they really whip around.

I did a simular tow as the OP for my first tow. The Ranger did this without trouble. Granted this was on the shitty FX2/FX4 suspension. Can't wait to tow my track car in October with my 5100's installed :)

Just did 1800 plus trip towing #5000 about 1800 miles. From southern Ohio to UP of Michigan. Got 12-13 mpg, speeds from 60-75. Truck did great.

Where in the UP did you go?

That’s a long ways up there. Did you go through Wisconsin or Michigan?
Wisconsin on the way up. Went back across to take I-75 home. Hope to never drive through Chicago again. We vacation a lot in the UP, usually near Newberry area. Love the cooler temps in the summer compared to Southern Ohio.
