Hi all

just starting to flat tow my 2020 fx4 lariat. Should turn off ignition and lock doors with key. (I have the handles that
Lock unlock the car)?

thanks

Hi Mark,

Nope....use the door touch....Imperative fact it to leave the shifter in Neutral...not park. Otherwise you will damage the transmission as Park reengages the transfer case....

Best,
Phil

Hi Phil

owners manual says

if your vehicle has intelligent access, press the engine START/STOP button once without pressing the brake pedal. You do not need to leave your keys in the vehicle. You can lock and unlock your vehicle as you normally do.

this is saying I should turn off ignition and take key with me, no?

With smart access, you may start your automobile by just pressing the start/stop button once. You need not stress about losing your automobile keys. You're free to utilise your car's regular locking and unlocking mechanisms.

You should NOT leave your keys in the car, because you will be locked out. Even when flat towing, the doors lock when the vehicle moves. I wasn't sure first time I towed, but knew I could unlock with the Ford app (which I did need to do).
Also, if you don't turn off the ignition, your battery could go flat (ask me how I know)
