not really true.....bumper to bumper is 3 yr 36000 miles6/60k only buys you another year and 10k on the power train, so only you can decide if thatās worth the cost. Personally, if I was going to invest in it, I would try to go longer.
My truckās been perfect to date, but Iāve decided to buy one for 5/100k, which is how long I keep vehicles on average. For my vehicle, thatās just over $1000. I usually donāt buy warranties, but it seems pretty easy to spend $1000 on a repair these days, especially on electrical and such that is only covered for 3/36k. So, the warranty seems like a reasonable cost to insure the risk.
I sold my 2018 Escape after reading about chronic problems with coolant intrusion into the cylinders on the 1.5L EcoBoost4 (not the 2020 & newer 1.5L 3cyl). Those that are out of 5/60 factory warranty are paying $4-$9000 for a new short or long block.Think of it this way...anything major goes wrong several years down the road, you would pay more than that $1060 in labor...![]()
Whether you buy a Ford plan or a third party extended warranty, It is always a good idea to buy it while the vehicle is new. They are cheaper than if you wait until either the 3/36 or 5/60 factory warranty runs out. Thanks, and another poster above mentioned about a price increase on 1/5, I was going to wait 8 months till the factory basic 3/36 expired but maybe that's not a good idea, ?ā![]()
I understand about that.Unfortunately refinancing would probably be my only option to get an extended warranty.
My only other option would be to put it on a credit with much higher interest than my car loan.
We paid an extra $100 for bulb coverage thru Flood. You select it after picking your plan as an add on.Does anyone know which of the plans covers the LED in the head & tail lights incase it goes bad? I couldn't find any description for the lights in any of the plans.
hey thanks for letting us all know about this -- I would've bought it from the dealer but they literally wanted double the price I got. its nice piece of mind and now if something breaks instead of living without it I can get it fixed ----- and most people dont realize that as of now, they can cancel it when they trade / sell or wreck the truck and get a fair amount of the money back. Ford is one of the few that have reasonable priced extra warranties (prices go up in two days so who knows????) for example a contract for my Subaru was going to be nearly double so trading that one in before it hits the power train expiration. And I got to use my ford points - they expire in a couple of weeks. yea its a bet --- I plan to keep it awhile and repairs to anything are really expensive --- hell a burned out tail light is about 800 bucks (led cant just change the bulb) - thanks again for the heads up. oh and yea got the damper toHahaā¦I should have contacted Flood and made a āroyaltyā deal before starting this post!
In all seriousness, Iām glad that this post/topic generated all this discussion and got folks thinking about having a long term warranty. I know this subject is one where folks are pretty much evenly split in theyāre thinking - kinda like whether or not a DAMPER or a spacer level is a good thing.
I just finished my FLOOD FORD online purchase - 6yrs/60k for $745.

was that a ford warranty???? I dont trust 3rd party ones much - bad experience a long time ago-- the company went out of business and repair wasn't covered. And dealerships dont give you anything for "free" might look over the paperwork and see what you paid for it (its gotta be there somewhere) if not look at the brochure and call the number to cancel it if you can and get a ford one. I Got caught on that once --- it was their own company NOT fords warranty its dishonest BS I found it the following day and went back the next am and cancelled (it was late, I was dead tired and really did not notice it wasn't from ford). Now Im much more careful. -- might look and see if you can cancel it and get one directly from ford. The dealership I purchased the truck from gave me a 10 year 100k Powertrain warranty with a $100 deductible for free. Then they tried to upsell me with a matching 10 year electronics warranty for $1,745. I wonder if Flood sells just the electronics part cheaper? Hmm.
