well i gave in and purchased 8yr/100k ($200 deductible) for about $1060. At least now i can not worry so much about some of the random issues popping up haha. I cant believe i gave in, damn.
Think of it this way...anything major goes wrong several years down the road, you would pay more than that $1060 in labor...

You all convinced me.. went to Flood Ford and bought the Premium Plan for 8 years, 100K, 200 deductlble.

I believe the factory backed plans are the way to go, the prices at Flood are very reasonable.

How do I know ? I actually can sell extended warranty plans through our corporate affiliate, but in all the quotes i did , it never penciled out for my customers, so I told them to pass. When I bought the truck, my dealer was trying to sell me this plan or something similar for 2,500. $ 1,110 is super reasonable.

Appreciate all you who posted on this thread, I learn something every day.

Ya, and to add, I believe they try to put that cost ok your car loan, so its also gaining interest. I could be wrong, i kinda zone out whenever i buy a car and they start talkimg about ext warranties. Buying it after the fact for half the price is so much better. Which is funny because i swear the dealer said i couldnt add their ford warranty after i made the purchase.

I dont know what rate your car loan is at now, but there are some pretty good rates out there. I just did a search for my wife and found her 1.99% at a credit union we were able to join. To refi a car it will be a little more.
Zeigler ford also has payment plans but you would lose the 250.00 off. Call zeigler and flood and see what they have to offer.
Are 'Ziegler' and 'Flood' Dealerships or the actual Ins. Company's ? thanks.

well, no discounts for FL residents. I went 5 year/150 thru Zeigler. My faith in Ford getting me through the first 150k without a major component failure is low. The one question I had that couldn't be answered is process for a failure where the part isn't readily available - answer "grey area, up to dealer".

They're actual dealerships who sell these with little profit. They make their money by selling in bulk.

They are simply Ford dealerships...they are selling Ford Company extended warranty plans.
Every Ford dealer will sell you the same exact plan/plans, and they all make a profit/commision from selling the plans.
But some, like Flood and Ziegler are very fair in their selling practices and take a much smaller $$$ profit.
Think of it like this...
My dealer wanted to sell me a certain plan, 8 years, 100,000 miles, $100 deductible for almost $2500. Flood sold me the same exact plan for $1195. That's a $1300 difference that someone, somewhere, was pocketing.
Flood rep told me that even at their reduced prices, they are still making a bit of $$$
As fair as my dealer was about trade in and final price on my Ranger, they would have totally screwed me for an extra $1300,00 on the extended warranty.
If I could get away with it I'd park my truck across the street with a huge sign..."This Dealer Will Screw You When You Buy An Extended Warranty From Them"

Thanks, and another poster above mentioned about a price increase on 1/5, I was going to wait 8 months till the factory basic 3/36 expired but maybe that's not a good idea, ?‍♂

That is known in the business as a backend store. All the profit is on the back end with lease gap coverage, extended warranties, etc.. in certain stores even the interest rates are marked up. Some dealers buy paper (extended warranties, gap coverage, paint protection) and mark it up to what the customer will pay. They refer to clients by pounds like fish, a 3 pounder they profited 3k off the adds etc. There is a game within the game. I learned this from my clients who managed certain stores. Flood and others like them are helping the consumer, I am sure at dealer conventions they probably sit alone at a table lol

Alan, if you haven't already you can search for Ford dealers that sell the genuine extended warranty at discounter prices. i.e Flood, Zeigler etc.

I usually check them all, and buy from the one with the best price. These days I don't worry much about the mechanical stuff, but all of these expensive electronics are another story. Like you say, it's for my peace of mind.
I disagree
Wireing harnesses are nearly perfect
Sensors are mostly inexpensive
Main computers are perhaps $1500
Try pulling a engine or transmission for repair, this is where the longer term failures will be.
I purchased a Ford 100K warranty for this concern, Not electronics.

You read my mind. Mines slightly higher 4x4 100 beans deduct. Honestly, I've been thinking of this for many moons. Even the misses said that's not bad price. Done deal.

Oh the pier pressure! I just Dropped $895 on the 6 year 75K plan. I'm not known for keeping a vehicle long an this gets me to the paid off date. I hope I never need it but it's fairly cheap insurance.

I paid via PayPal so I have 6 months to pay if off interest free. Probably use the tax return.
