Love him or hate him, Scotty is the Joe Pesci of auto mechanics. Legend has it he waved his arms so much on one video a small plane landed in his yard.

Some people don’t like this guy either, but the particle test beginning at 9:15 is interesting. The K&N didnt stop much of anything.

i enjoy all of project farm vids. he seems very legit and no non sense. scotty kilmer i can live without lol. its not so much what he says it is how he acts that make me ignore him.

I stopped using K&N filters many years ago when I saw fine dust coated on the inside of my supercharger piping on my SHO. The powersports guys (RZR's and such) won't run them as they can dust an engine pretty quickly. For my RZR's, I not only run stock filters, but a particle separator prior to the filter as well. On my Ranger, stock filter for me.

On cars where I have to run a non-OEM filter, like my turbo S2000, I like AEM Dryflow filters.

Stock air filters for me thanks. K&N are just too much of a hassle to maintain. And while my knowledge of the finer points of physics is low, something about high flow filters tells me they won't remove as many contaminants. Clean air, top tier fuel, and quality oil changes should add up to a longer engine life.

The only K&N I ever ran was in my street bike years ago. You had to constantly clean and maintain them and while it did give it "some" extra hp it wasn't enough to justify the maintenance on the street.

I try to stick with OEM filters because they were designed to work for that vehicle from the manufacturer. Plus if there's ever a warranty claim it gives them one less thing to try and deny it from you.

After living in South Florida and seeing the fine grit/sand on the backside of the K&N filters on my own 5.0 and other vehicles I serviced it went into the trash. Not for me. As someone here pointed out even freshly cleaned and oiled you can see right through them.

This guy has a lot of interesting and entertaining vids. This one about OEM vs aftermarket or K&N is very interesting. Full disclosure, I run a K&N which is currently on the wood clothes rack drying.
THE ONLY WEIRD LITTLE POINT HE MAKES IS HOW TO CLEAN OUT A PAPER FILTER BETWEEN ACTUAL CHANGES, HE SUGGESTS A VACUUM CLEANER?? HAHAHAAH HOW ABOUT COMPRESSED AIR YOYOYO

Compressed air is not recommend because it can damage the paper and allow unfiltered air to enter....
