Brutal story. About 2 months ago I notice my headliner has water stains. Only on back corners and in the middle. Take it to Ford. Ends up staying for a week. They replace both roof rails and antenna/shark fin assembly. Best part of the story - the tech rips one of the rear window defrosters off the back window when reinstalling headliner. Have to wait a couple weeks and bring the truck back to replace the entire back window.

This weekend after some rain, I find that it is leaking still. But only in one corner. It is either the back window seal or underneath the roof rail (not sure if that's what it's called) leaking.

Would you take it back? And have the dealership drop the headliner again? I do not have any idea even where to start fixing this myself. Any input would be really, really appreciated.

Still in love with my truck - just need to get past this issue. I am confident I can fix the water stain, it is the leak I need fixed.

Thanks,

You need to open a case with Ford Customer Care. Press forward with them so you have more documentation in case you need to switch dealers.

In addition to my Ranger I have a 2009 Sport Trac. Replacing the 3rd brake light on the 'Trac is almost as routine as oil changes now. lol! Not quite the same design, but similar circumstance.

Take it back to the same dealer. It sounds like they had an inexperienced tech work on it. This time, hopefully, they put their best tech on it and they’re not starting from scratch like a new dealer would be. If it continues, then I might seek another dealer.
You should be able to get the headliner replaced under warranty as well. Don't do any remedial work yourself. As long as the original leak happened under he 3/36 B2B warranty, the defective repair should be also covered regardless if the 3/36 has expired. When the new repair is finished, and while still at the dealership, run it through their car wash.

I had a 150 that did this. Took it to a large dealer, who kept it a week and did nothing. He has lost my business. Took it to a smaller dealer, who fixed it in an hour.
He explained that Fords fail at the corners of the windshield, and at the back of the front wheel wells, where your feet rest.
In the back, it is the corners of the back window, and the brake light. If it is under warranty, take it to the dealer body shop, if out of warranty, a mobile windshield co. should be able to find it.
You should be able to see the tracing of the leak with the headliner out. My guess is the brake light, but what do I know.....

Ugh.

For whatever reason I looked behind me at my headliner before I pulled out of the driveway this morning... bigass water stains on each rear corner ?

My first problem. Of course I'm at 37,100 miles.

At least they fixed part of your problem.

I've still got water coming in the passengers side floor when it rains hard.

It sucks too. Especially when they say "we got it all fixed up".

When I get a chance I'll be taking it a second dealership...

OP, it does suck that the issue remains, but give the first dealer another chance to fix it.

Did they check the cargo lamp assembly?
I came from the Sport Trac (owned two) world where this is a common problem. The third brake light leaks but it doesn't stain the headliner, instead water runs down around the window frame and rusts out the lower cab corners and you have no idea it's happening.

I had a half ton Silverado that developed a leak around the third brake light/ cargo light. Could be a possible area. I'd still take it back and request a loaner or rental until they get it fixed.

Does the 3rd brake light act as a running light if the headlights are on? Or does it just come on if the brakes are depressed?

Look into the lemon law in your state. Lots of rules regarding number of times attempting to fix, amount of time at dealer, etc.
