I had my bed loaded full and gave the tailgate a little muscle to close and the passenger side popped off and I found this black piece. When I popped the tailgate back on, it wiggles a little bit on that side. How does this piece fit back in to make the tailgate snug again?

i do not recognize the part. best suggestion i have is to look around on the opposite side that still feels snug and see if you can find the piece attached, hoping one will be on each side.

I'd ask the folks with no damper. Parts fall off all their tailgates eventually .

Is that part of the pivot point for the tailgate? Hard to tell for sure without taking my tailgate off.

I found a piece like that too. Couldn't figure out how to get it back on so I tossed it the glove box for now.
