be sad. I know I am. All them Californians will realize how dumb this is and move here. Then they’ll vote like they did and make Colorado worse than it already is.
is any hope alive that folks will see ev is not the only answer or best plan? It seems like manufactures are fully on board with the ev push. but i guess they do not have a lot of choice in it. either make whats allowed to be sold or dont sell any . :(

Many are already in co and they have played a crucial role in driving up housing prices. If you were here when dick Lamm was our gov he was anti growth, anti immigration, led the successful effort to deny hosting the winter Olympics, was against c470 and so on. He honestly loved co and its largely unspoiled beauty and sought to protect it. Now you have leaders who have promoted growth at any cost, so they can use this as a springboard to their next position. But for me it's difficult to determine which are worse Texans or Californian's, but you are right regards co following CAs lead. Up in Denver you can look forward to paying more for gas to try and meet the epa ozone limits, and many consider continued growth unsustainable but that's not going to stop it. Now you can encounter backed up traffic on I 25 most anytime of the day.

The irony is incredible. All I can do is shake my head.
The Government giveth and the Government taketh away, blessed be the Government.

That's like a certain state in this country - which has a similar attitude to California. Was bending over backward to coerce people into e-vehicles, at the same time it was planning to slap an extra tax on them. Yep, that's going to encourage uptake no end.

Well that’s slamming the toilet seat on the load their hiding. Wow, way more than I thought really. I can see PHEV catching on for many reasons mileage being the biggest.
the article concludes mentioning Toyota's more conservative approach focusing on hybrids, the RAV4 plug hybrid has sold well , Toyota currently plans to make ice till 2040, gotta wonder if behind the scenes automakers like Ford have contingency plans in place, so much of the planned transitioning to EVs is dependent on the prevailing political winds, but in the end it must be the consumer who supports this in real EV purchases, unless you live in CA , then you just bend over :)

There is a pilot program taxing EVs based on mileage driven, because of the hit to taxes from not using gas. The government has to get theirs.

Most states use the gas tax to repair roads and traffic related infrastructure, in Calif it funds the CHP and CalTrans. We have the most EV's of any state but it is still only 1% @ 500K registered EV's. But with an adoption rate of 39% calif is way ahead of other states. In other news the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant will be re-certified for another 5 years to support the grid :)

Yes this was also the case in the example I quoted, except fuel excise is a FEDERAL tax in Australia, and goes toward federal interstate highway projects, it has nothing to do with the states, except that in theory they all get a share of it eventually.
This state was trying to make out it was missing out directly. The states get their direct road funding from car rego and license fees which are no different for electric vehicles in most states.
