Utilities put a chemical called mercaptan in natural gas so that leaks can be instantly detected, as natural gas has negligible odor itself. I would think it should be possible to add some sort of smelly agent, and/or one that makes burning H2 visible.Yes, stored at 350 bar (10,000 psi) in a 5KG (10lb) tank. I have stored compressed air at 5,000 psi in a run of the mill 100cuf steel scuba tank, so double that in a purpose constructed tank is not hard (there are more than a few of these on the road). Hydrogen does not normall explode when the tank is punctured, but ignites and burns as an almost invisible high pressure plume, very hard to see, have to look for the heat shimmer, which makes it so dangerous for 1st responders.
