Here is my question to you. What lift did you install? If it was Rough Country the. I understand. If it was one that required modification of the Chassis then I understand. Many ships would rather not deal with a Chassis that has been modified like such. It's a bit different if it was as simple as swapped struts, shocks and leafs.
It is a rough country lift kit but it’s strut spacers and upper control arms. It’s the lift kit that uses stock struts, so not much has been modified at all as far as suspension. I could literally have that lift kit removed and put back to stock in 45 minutes.

I told him that and asked if they could just take the spacers out and put it back to stock height, then I could reinstall later. He said if the suspension has been modified at all, they won’t touch the truck. At that point, they consider it an “off-road or styled vehicle” and their policy won’t allow them to work on it. They only work on stock vehicles apparently.

I would be more understanding if I had completely swapped out suspension components and put a massive lift on the truck. I basically have leveling spacers plus 1 inch. The only part of the suspension that isn’t OEM are the upper control arms that came with the lift kit.

Are you bound to that shop or does your insurance let you choose?

They recommended that shop because they’re partnered with them. I can choose any shop I want but they won’t warranty the repairs if the shop I pick isn’t in their network of partners.
I’m going to talk with the adjuster today and see what’s going on. What I’m worried about is taking the 15,000 then getting a higher estimate if I take it somewhere else. I don’t want to pay out of pocket.

Got it to a shop that’s going to do the repairs and said they would handle everything with my insurance on their end. Just got a call that their estimate was approved and they’re starting work today. Should be done in a week or so.

I was supposed to get the truck back today after work but they found more issues apparently... They test drove it when they got it back from the alignment shop this morning and noticed the steering was all messed up. After investigating, they realized the steering gearbox is damaged as well.

They had it towed to a local dealership to have it replaced. With any luck, it should be done next week sometime but there’s no telling with dealerships. What struck me as odd is that they sent it to a Chevy dealership… Why would they do that and not send it over to Ford? ?

I don’t think anything I’ve ever done in my life has made sense… Definitely not about to start today!

Got her back! These guys did a good job repairing everything, can’t even tell anything happened!

I did notice when I got home and backed in the carport that it shifted a little harsh from drive to reverse… Don’t think I ever noticed that before? It drove fine going up the hill though. I’ll see how she drives the next few days and go from there. For now, I’m just happy to have my truck back!

I might’ve spoke too soon when I said the auto shop did a good job… On the way home yesterday, the manager called and said one of his techs told him that he couldn’t remember if he tightened all the bolts on the grille guard… About half weren’t tightened all the way.

Crawling around under the truck, I also noticed a bunch of wires free hanging. Turns out, the fog lights weren’t connected, LED light bar wasn’t connected, my winch wasn’t connected and the wiring for everything was just free hanging. I spent about 2 hours going through everything they touched, reconnecting and securing all the wiring.

Kind of disappointed… I didn’t expect everything to go back exactly the way I had it before but leaving a bunch of wires loose like that isn’t cool. Not sure if they were in a hurry and forgot or whoever did the wiring was just sloppy and not paying attention. Kind of makes me wonder what else they might have forgot to do?

I thought my body shop had done a good job when they had to repaint the bumper. (girl backed into me) But then I realized they put the Mountain to Metal grill insert on backwards. I took it back and they promptly fixed it. Fast forward a couple of years and I discovered there was only one of those plastic push pins barely holding it on. Luckily I saved some from when I first installed it.
