Understanding the way you're thinking I can promise you the vehicle still going to do best when you have the fronts and rear shocks matched regardless of brand
I thought having the rears upgraded was good enough until I finally did the fronts. I agree with Frenchy and suggest you do all four corners

Got the bilstein 5100’s front and back and threw them in myself. Front was a pain but worth it, the truck rides amazing, world of difference! Only raised the front to the middle which is like inch and half or something, looks and rides great! Highly recommend bilstein!

4600s are valved alittle softer than 5100s, still digressive obviously, but tuned for a stock height configuration.
5100’s are tuned alittle firmer to account for increased ride height and a larger tire.
i called bilsten a while back and they explained it in detail, but that’s the gist of it.
costs are not much different between the two.

Have a 22 Ranger 4x4 towing a 5000# 20’ travel trailer .
if I up grade the front struts and rear shocks to Bilstein 4600 , is there a noticeable difference . Or am I just feeding the cash cow ?
want to retain stock height
Mike
I have a '22 XL 2WD and noticed a change for the head whipping when going over street bumps and holes at low speed (especially while turning). It's hard to put a number on it but the harshness of that head bobbing has diminished. It's like someone placed a heavy blanket over the bed. If before was a 10 out of 10, then this made it a 6 out of 10 for harshness - it's now 60% as harsh as it was before? Very subjective ...

Here's my install:

I should have strapped both to the desired length - one was easy to set but the other was a pain. Plus it can be done much faster than I did but I enjoyed spending an afternoon playing with the truck. =)

And the stock height wasn't changed at all for me.

Ok , where are the set of Bilstein 4600 in stock . They seem to be in short supply ?

Save your money and just change the rear shocks. I did that and was very pleasantly impressed. I used the B8 5100 rear shocks. Stock height was retained.

I don't know if the 2022 oem shocks are any better than the oems from 2019, if they are the same, your question won't be "should I have?"; your question will be "why didn't I do that sooner?"

I was going to go Bilstein 5100 for leveling, but got the Eibach's instead when Bilstein's couldn't be found. Do not regret it for one second. Only regret waiting as long as I did to put them on. For reference, I tow +7K# TT.

BTW if you are going to do the fronts, go ahead and level it up. It looks so much better leveled up a bit.

That's not the message I got from Bilstein when asked. They told me they are valved the same. Only difference (According to Bilstein) is the fronts that are grooved for different ride heights.

Also the 4600's in the rear can not accept higher ride height in the rear. The 5100 can take up to a 1inch lift in the rear. But on their own will be stock height.
