Had a V6 Taco pull up to me and admire the truck like it was eye candy. I looked over and it was blonde eye candy in the driver seat so didn't want to make her feel bad and just stayed slightly ahead.

haven't raced anyone but have tried getting around and away from distracted drivers. Dropped into sport mode and nailed it, looked down and was hitting ninety. Dang the 10 speed transmission is very smooth and don't really feel shifts like i do with 6 speed transmission. Really like this drive train so far.

The Ranger is definitely the fastest mid-sized truck out now. For a street racing truck, I really like the F-150 Ecoboost’s. One morning I was driving to work in my 2017 Mustang Gt and a F-150 Ecoboost pulls up next to me and starts taunting me. Since the road was clear I decided to go for it. My Mustang won, but not by much. I was impressed with how fast that F-150 was.

Hi Drew,

I do not condon street racing as it is not a controlled environment as is a race track. That said today my little Ranger, wifelet in the passenger seat, were at a stop light to turn left on to I 19 South. There are two turn lanes and the lanes merge into a single entrance on to the freeway. I am in the left land at the light. This Toco comes up on the right lane. I looked over and he was staring straight at the light, and I knew he was going to blow by me and merge forcing me into following behind him.... I told the wifelet to watch this. So the light changes to the turn arrow. He floors the Taco but he is on the long path. I accelerate to keep pace so we are door handle to door handle. He is hard on the poor Taco's floor. So I punch it and rocket forward. I get up to the merge speed of 65mph and look in my mirror...he is way behind me. So I signal and merge into the right freeway lane at the speed limit. Taco immediately changes to the left lane and with a head of steam tries to pass me in the right lane, so I match his speed and floor it again and then back off. He knew he was in a 2nd rate vehicle. Chalk one up for my little Ranger....knowing this taco driver had more than met its match with the Ranger.... :like: ???

Odds are that the Taco driver won't be posting about this encounter on Tacomaworld

One 3rd gen guy on there posted about a BIG slice of humble pie experience handed to him by an EcoBoost F150 and was excoriated along with the usual TW White Knights saying the F150 broke down 5 minutes later, etc.

A friend came by with his new Taco today, v6. Said it was the second fastest vehicle he’s ever owned. I was reminded of this thread but kept my mouth shut.
I would have had a really hard time doing that!

As a rule, I don't do this sort of thing...except I broke the rule last week.

An impatient fellow turning right at a stoplight whipped around the corner without stopping, cutting off a car several cars ahead of me, leading to a whole string of brake lights. Normally I would have just shaken my fist (yup, fist, that's the shape my hand would have been in) and let it go, but this guy was in a Colorado. As we traveled along, the cars in between us peeled off onto various side-streets, leaving me directly behind him, where I could easily see that he had accessorized his pickup with 1) a window decal of Calvin peeing on a Ford emblem, and 2) an oversized display of personal insecurity hanging from his hitch receiver, if you catch my drift. Then he did something that made me smile: he pulled into the turn lane to turn onto the same multi-lane highway that I needed the turn onto. Traffic was heavy enough that this stoplight he had to stop at. As soon as cross-traffic stopped, he lurched around the corner. I whipped around directly into the left lane, gave the skinny pedal enough of a shove to let the turbo do its thing, and was past him in no time.

I would have sarcastically said, "oh, you had a '19 Ranger before you bought the Taco?"

Hi Harold,

Wife is pretty cool about things like this as she has experienced a couple wild rides we had to avoid accidents and she knows I am still relative competent race car driver, so she was all smiles but did admonish me on the freeway to let the bozo go and not speed...no tickets, eh?

Magazine said supercab 2wd will run 14s in the quarter mile . Believe it this thing beats my old 69 Z 28 and my present 66 stang with ease . Dusted off a subaru noise nitwit with ease but did not have the heart to let him see me laughing . The Rangers will be known as a muscle truck .
Jumping in late here, but I ran a 14.957 this weekend in my 2WD SuperCab. I was a bit disappointed, honestly. I'm tuned and was really hoping for a 14.5 or better. That being said, it was hotter than hell out, was my first time taking it to a track, and it still walked right away from that little civic that thought he was hot shit next to me lol

I had a Challenger R/T pull up next to me at a light. The light was a double lane left turn on to an on ramp that merged on to I-40. I was in the left lane, he was in the right. The right lane ended in less than 500 feet after turning.

I had already been patiently waiting at the light when I could hear his exhaust before he even pulled up, and you know how you can always tell when someone's going to drive like a dick? Loud exhaust, music blaring, cigarette hanging out the window, pulls up way past the stop line at the light? Yeah, well, I had no expectations since I'd just bought the truck only a week or two before, but I stomped on it as soon as I got around the corner and so did he. He couldn't get past, and got so angry that he drove up the shoulder after we'd gotten on the highway just to hop in front of me, brake check me, and flip me off. I couldn't care less honestly, I was too busy laughing my ass off that my little 2.3 Ranger stayed side by side with a 5.7 Hemi. Maybe he was just mad bc his girlfriend was in the car...

Anyway, I don't have a video of that, but my husband has a tuned '17 Fusion Sport and we played around on an empty stretch of highway for a minute a few weeks ago. Video here:
