2020 XLT, 302A package w/ heated seats. Usually drive less than 20 miles a day few times a week.My ASS has stopped working, have seen 1 or 2 warnings about turning features off to save battery. Took to local Ford shop, battery rated @ 651 CCA, 71% SOC, 12.52 V. No issues cranking yet but hoping to take a trip middle Jan where most of my time will be out in GSMNP - miles out of town. How concerned do you guys think I should be?

This is exactly what happened to my wife's Bronco Sport. It happened more frequently and lasted longer before starting. The battery had a bad cell.

I would replace the battery before taking that trip.

Mine just started this last week. Fordpass notifications after every drive and the dash shows the 'turning off features' every time I get in it. All of the chimes have changed tone to a higher, sharper tone. Getting a new battery this evening.

New battery fixed all the issues. ASS is back, all the high pitched beeps and boops are back to normal, no more message on the screen, no more Fordpass notifications.

You made the right choice.

My ASS hasn't activated in months, but I have no errors, which is what set me down this path! Back of the mind is good at sensing new patterns, or lack thereof.

Sounds like you are starting down the path. I always turn off ASS when I get in so I am not sure how long it had been 'disabled' before now. I went with the H6 Interstate from Coscto since I have the XLT. $169. The H7 (Lariat) is also $169.

Oh great point, why didn't I think of Costco! Forgot they have Interstate. That's almost half price compared to a Duralast Platinum or other store brand AGM.

Just make sure you are aware you need the H7 with a lariat (maybe confirm with the stock battery) as their book says all rangers get the H6

Put a Costo Interstate H7 AGM in today, great deal compared to the parts stores or even Walmart.

The factory battery is very plain and only 800cca compared to the 850cc Interstate AGM.

And sure enough, swapped new battery in, and my ASS is instantly working again! No Forskin or other settings needed, just the battery swap and it's back. Looks like the life on the AGM/ASS is right about 5 years.

You should at least do a BMS reset, it will reset the BMS for a new battery install.

Seems like it already knows? ASS went away and ASS is instantly back. The BMS knows ASS when it sees it.

The BMS reset , resets the charging algorithm and charges the battery as a new battery, otherwise it will still charge as the old

I believe but what’s the reference? Is it in the owner manual, or shop manual?
