On various trucks I've had a version of nearly all of them; clamshell hard top, rollup, retractable hard cover. The only one I've not had is tri-fold.
Clamshell (1X) - good security, water proof, difficult to load bed, difficult to remove if cargo is higher than bed rails, difficult to store...
I did the mid-bed tie down undelete mod this week. Not worth pictures but I'll say it makes securing things near the tailgate easier.
Also, if you have a spray-in bedliner added to your truck, make sure they block the entire bolt hole. I'm guessing my place used a golf tee or rolled up masking...
Long, long ago, I added SXM to my Suburban.
The antenna at that time was a puck attached to the roof with the cable dropped in through the windshield seal, headliner, and behind the a pillar trim. From inside, it was clean. From outside, you could tell it was aftermarket.
I had it installed...
Over the weekend my wife and I drove up to Saratoga, WY (population ~1,700) for the weekend for golf, hiking, and fishing. We had a great weekend.
Day 1 - Medicine Bow NF
Trying to piece this together I get:
1. Vehicle was totaled in OR.
2. It was purchased by a SoCal rebuilder.
3. OP purchased from the rebuilder and started mods, which continue.
4. I think OP towed 10,400 lbs. with a truck rated at 7,000 lbs. and only had an issue with clamps on an intercooler...
Hey,
I'm going to be up in WY this weekend. We have several activities planned but was looking for an easy trail (something similar to La Salle Pass, rated a 2 or 3). If someone could recommend something I can map using available forest service maps that would be great.
I previously subscribed...
Our local Meineke did really good work for us and never an issue. So, like dealerships, it's a YMMV thing.
My synthetic blend oil change at a dealer (not the one I bought from, they're terrible at service) is about $80 and the tire rotation is another $30. As my wife and I both have extended...
I had Lasik about a month ago. So glad to not need glasses anymore (other than readers).
First thing I did was call Shady Rays to replace my prescription sunglasses with non (part of their warranty), then I went into the store and bought another pair.
For the last decade my sunglasses have run...
I traded a Ram 1500 for my Ranger. You're right - it didn't handle as well or accelerate as quickly. It was comfortable on long trips; drove it to California several times and a couple of trips each to DFW and PHX. I haven't driven my Ranger longer than a 2.5 hour drive yet.
My Ram did give a...
I know as soon as I pull the trigger and buy a bed rack, I'll be hauling stuff left and right and need that space.
On topic - I have spray-on bed liner. I've had it in my last 3 trucks. It's great and I wouldn't own a truck without it. That said, a bed rug would make crawling around in the bad...
