Hello all, new member here from Iowa. Bought my Ranger back in November and have been visiting the forums for awhile and decided to join up, have found valuable information on here so I thank everyone who contributes. Anyway, Ive had two small rock chips hit me on interstate twice in same week! I chalk it up to bad luck but was wondering if anyones heard or had similar experience which made me wonder if the quality of windshield is lacking? Not saying there is and I certainly dont blame Ford simply just curious. Both times Safelite has been able to repair the chip so heres to hoping I dont see them again!

I had a rock chip at 900 miles. But I live in Arizona where rock chips are very common. The guy at Safelite told me he sees some clients every 6 months. My GT350 got a rock clip at 200 miles. It is the price we pay for living in the desert.

Curious, do they replace the glass with one that has the RANGER writing on the bottom, or do they cheap out and give you one that doesn't have it?

Had my Ranger windshield replaced this past Tuesday because of a chip in my wife's line of site. K & K Glass brought out an original Ford Ranger windshield replacement with the electric wire for the frost system and lane keep assist, and yes, RANGER is at the bottom.

However, they are returning this coming Tuesday to replace it again because right smack dab in the middle, below the mirror, there is a Fun House distortion which can only be seen from the inside.

I’d say if you have windshield replaced it’s NOT likely to have the Ranger logo on it. I had to get my driver window replaced due to a rock shot from landscapers zero turn mower. It bothers me every time I look over and see that it’s the only piece of glass that doesn’t say Ford on it :frown:

NICE!! Do you know if they charged you extra for factory glass?

Our Ranger just turned 5,000 miles. Here in Colorado, windshield rock chips and cracks are commonplace. Thus far we have only (1) very small chip. IMO the windshield is every bit as good as the ones we had in our Tacoma for the past 17 years and in our Jeep Wrangler for the past 13 years.

Hope that helps. :like:

In Florida, windshields are covered 100% by insurance (as long as you have insurance) & it was quoted up to $700.00 because I guess of the heated windshield & lane keeping abilities.

I have had to have replaced an Explorer windshield & it was not replaced by a factory windshield.

When I got mine replaced in my 07 I had the option for the factory glass with logo or to do generic. I went with the generic as the other costs more and it was a longer wait.

I've got the bad luck as well. About 3500 miles on my ranger and I have about a half dozen rock chips on the windshield already. No tailgating and I try to leave a considerable distance between the car in front of me. Maybe one chip on the front bumper paint, but my windshield is like a magnet.
