I had this happen to side glass on a new Chevy once while the car was safe in the garage...could be cold weather related...

We added glass coverage to our regular insurance policy several years ago after having to shell out $1000.00 for wifes Subi.
Total coverage for all the windows on the vehicle ran an extra $62.00 per year, which covers both of our vehicles with a $50.00 deductible.
(amended it...I posted $47 but it's $62.00 per year, covers both vehicles, all windows, with a $50.00 deductible )
Posting this as many don't know that most of your insurance companies offer this coverage....cheap when you consider the cost of replacing out of your pocket.

What the heck?!
Was it excessively hot?
Any other random unusual factor ?

Nope nothing unusual. No heat wave. Tech is working on it now. He says definitely kicked up rock. Says he found the spot it hit too

When I was a small kid, there was a rail line on a high bank above the downtown area. My friend and I were throwing pieces of the gravel at an a/c unit on top of the flat roof of one of the buildings below. Of course, we weren’t very accurate with our aim and weren’t really thinking about anything except the sound of the stones hitting that big metal box. After a while, we got bored and as we were walking away, two very angry men from the Chevrolet dealership down below stopped us.

My dad sure was pissed when he had to pay for that new windshield.
