Haha yeah that’s so true about the tools and project money. I never lost interest in my Jeep I just lost focus because I got the truck as a planned daily driver. No customizing it or anything while I fixed the Jeep and brought it back to life. Well we all see how that plan went to the crapper incredibly fast.

my gf was asking me the other week what part of the truck have you not customized yet. I said well I haven’t really messed with the hood or roof lol. YET! Haha. I do plan to design my own Prinsu Style rack for the cab and then I wouldn’t mind changing up the hood but everything I find I like half of the hood. There’s a fiberglass Gen2 style raptor hood but they slapped a ram air vent in front of it. Just not a huge fan of that front vent. Then I’ll be modifying the passenger side ADV front fender with the custom stainless steel snorkel I’ve got in the works. John from ADV was a little scared when I told him about it haha.
yuuup it gets old fast i rebuilt my tacomas front end like 3-4 times and then towards the end it needed rear suspension gone through again... so i lost interest and love for it so it was sold off and now the ranger is getting some mods haha

haha thats how it was with my old truck i modified just about everything on it but the hood and engine the rest of the truck had something done to it at some point in time haha

with the snorkel that should go fine the stainless snorkels are popular on the toyota side of things with glass so its not unusual the standard is they make it route on the inside then cut a hole for it to come out near the pillar and thats it so very little cutting or modifying of the actual fender not like when i had my +2s on my tacoma with the airflow snorkel that took a lot of work to modify it to fit

So there will be some drilling required into the fiberglass panel and then that next bulkhead. I will be making an opening just like the International Rangers that will pass through and connect to a stainless steel airbox. It would have been mighty sweet of Ford here to leave that opening instead me cutting but it’s all good!

tbh if you design it you should be able to only make one hole in the glass near the pillar for it to go up then make a couple holes on the inner fender Skelton area to make a bracket to help make it stronger.

buddy of mine had something like this with his +4 fenders on his tacoma but it was closer to the pillar so it was very minimal coming out of the fender it looked good

agreed i wish they would have made a hole in that spot for a intake or snorkel spot like toyota has but oh well if thats the one thing you have to drill on the body thats not to bad tbh since it can be hidden and made to look oem

Yeah there will only be one hole in the glass. There’s another bulkhead behind there that will need a hole.

I've tried multiple times to inquire with Mishimoto about purchasing their snorkel system, guts only, to no avail or answer. I wanted to make a custom cold air intake and fender vent system. They were very active on this forum up till the release of their product then went completely dark. Basically they only cared enough to participate here until they could get the cash rolling then ditched this community.

That’s shitty man. Ive seen their kit and it never really tickled my fancy. I have a hand full of 4” stainless 45° bends that I ordered and a few feet of straight 4” stainless that I’m going to tig weld up and then make my own stainless air box. The plastic style snorkels all look a little odd to me. With the body lines of the truck stock or modified it just doesn’t seem to match it well. That’s my two cents and reasoning for the stainless route. Also I don’t know of any other ranger that’s got it here in the states.

Use Buna-N rubber sheet material. My last Ranger all the bed cross supports rusted away. I fabbed up new ones and use that sheet at 1/4” thick to go between frame and tubular square steel. Worked like a charm and lasted until I got this truck. Should easily get 15 to 20 years in an outdoor environment with the stuff. Great damping of vibrations too as a bonus
What year Ranger was that?

so a bit of advise from a tacoma owner do not put a cold air intake system into the fender! the tacomas air intake is behind the inner fender behind the front wheel near the cab. yes it gets more cold air but if you ever go in water you are then risking sucking in water and hydro locking your engine ive seen it happen a lot thats why you see a load of tacomas/4runners with either a snorkel or the cowl snorkel where they route it into the cowl to get fresh air from instead (they dont like the look of snorkels)
