I've been monitoring this thread. Lot of admiration. Often considered a similar project, but that would be one hell of a doozy and metal materials are priced absurdly right now.

I use SketchUp for all of my designs as well. lol

Never translates 100%, but great FREE tool to get you close to the mark.

Hell yeah dude! That’s looks great!! I’m ā€œlearningā€ Solidworks but SketchUp seems to be the easiest to get a visual.

I was going to do a wedge camper build but I just couldn’t make the truck, like my Jeep, solely for camping. I use it a good bit doing truck stuff so the flatbed will be a great option. I am still trying to figure out how to keep the BLIS system though. Not sure I’ll have it right away but I might have a solution in mind.
Nice, that is a great option. Being able to quickly detach the camper and use the flatbed will be mighty convenient. I have access to a flatbed trailer so that makes my life much easier, but I previously had a camper shell with a full lift back on it instead of a tailgate, and it was a PITA to haul lumber, appliances, or anything larger than what could fit in the opening.

Yeah I had to be strategic when I needed to use the truck for truck stuff.

okay so the tray was test fitted once I got everything tacked up and still super square. When I drew it the width matched the width of the Advanced Fiberglass Concepts bedsides. Mentally I thought it would look good, visually it’s a damn dump truck haha. So the tray is getting

As you can see it’s just way too wide. I don’t want it the same width as the cab but I don’t want it 6ā€ wider on each side kind of wide.
Nice welds and this is for me: "it’s a damn dump truck haha."

Good luck, looking awesome!

Yes I’ve been thinking of a good sturdy rubber to put between the two
ummmm....

maybe just some epdm pond liner? should be easy to find at home depot and probably help deaden some rattle and noise besides the corrosion

Is this going to be a permanent thing, what are you going to do with the stock bed?

I’ve designed the tray mounts to not modify the original bed mounts just for being able to swap back to the bed if needed but I honestly don’t think I’ll be going back to a normal bed. I would probably say I’ll end up selling the bed but I haven’t fully decided on that just yet. I’d like to prototype some parts for the OEM beds off of that bed since it’s going to be off the truck.
