Are there any hitch receiver lochs that don't seize / fail?

I have an adjustable GEN-Y hitch.

I take it off when not in use. Best way that i can think of to keep the locks clean and in good working order. Fits right behind the rear seat

Dang, apart from white lithium grease, there's only one real "Ford Ranger 5G Forum Approved" method for protecting it:

Graphene!

And don't take my word for it, @AzScorpion will brainwash encourage you to use it. =D

Either keep it lubed or don't leave it on all the time. In my state it's a $350 fine for driving around with your hitch ball on and no trailer, although it's rarely enforced.
You're correct, but I was referring to the whole hitch assembly.

I have had same lock for going on 30 yrs maybe longer! I keep it on all the time with either a hitch or a hitch cover I prefer not to be stolen.
As others have said I do maintenance and last year took the whole lock apart cleaned, painted it black and lubed up.
I looked to buy something new, but the quality I'd just not there. The bar may be SS, but the locks don't even use brass parts anymore.
Go simple and cheap - replace every couple of years.

Canadian!?! I'm from Quebec (don't hold that against me) and the AMPLock is made in Drummondville!

I was wondering why the state has a fine for this?
Never heard of this?
Causes more damage in accidents is the reason I was told.

LOL - Even when I had water toys I didnt keep my hitch in the receiver - too many shin breakers tripping over it!

I had this on my frontier for three years in Hawaii. Never took it off, never had an issue. You buy specific to your vehicle make, and some kind of hoodoo juju sorcery makes it so your truck key works the lock. No additional key necessary.

I did not know these keyed to the vehicle locks existed! That alone could make me retire mine. One less Key to loose!
Anybody know for sure that the Ford one works with the Ranger? EDIT NM - just check the BOLT website. indeed it does!

Nice. Looks like they expanded their line since I bought mine. Tool box latches, lock cylinders and more...

I sure hope I didn't throw my old ones out after selling my truck. Had the receiver and two cable locks. I can buy 3 cylinders for the price of one new lock.

Edit to add...the lock cylinders are only for toolboxes.

just leave the hitch on forever and you never have to worry about the lock
that is what I have done and continue to do

Agreed - can get a bunch of locking devices and no need for a handlful of extra keys.
This is genius

Looking to buy a hitch receiver lock for my Ranger I take delivery next week. When I read the reviews, almost every product has 5 to 10 percent reviews where the lock seized or fell off or key broke or something.

Any recommendations for products you've used with no issues?
I purchased one from U-Haul nearly 5 years. Still going strong. Never failed even when pulling a 14K pound trailer behind my Expedition.
