My Ranger has the open rear diff, and I got a good deal on it at the time. Has anyone tried the ARB air locker yet? If so, what are your thoughts? Thanks

I’ve heard good things about their air locker. I will tell you one thing, I’ve been off roading a lot throughout the years and never needed my locker, but went off roading recently and got stuck and couldn’t get out for the life of me, my locker got me out with ease. Glad I had it. Needless to say, I’m a believer in lockers now lol

Plan on a new Ring and Pinon with your locker as the old Ring gear is welded to the differential and likely cannot be salvaged...

best,
Phil

Ah ok. I wasn’t aware that the locking diff wasn’t a standard option.
I remember getting the FX4 for the E-locker...not sure if they're available alacarte...

To my understanding its hard to beat an ARB air locker for quality. Yes there is a price tag and even with my truck i can see myself using it with the current setup

So the FX4 doesnt give you the rear locker surprisingly. Now the locker is something available byitself. If anything most dealers when ordering a locker will usually have the FX4 package anyway.

Incorrect.

E locker is part of FX-4 package. AND it is also available a la carte on non FX-4 trucks.

That must have been changed recently as the first year(and possibly the second) did not come with the locker in that package.

Might be cheaper to get a junkyard one with leafs and breaks for $1500. I seen some pretty low mileage ones up for grabs. Though about doing it too. Easy drop in.

Nope, locker was part of fx4 from the beginning, optional with plain 4x4.

The crew of Expedition Overland have used ARB lockers front and rear on almost all of their vehicles as they travelled between Prudhoe Bay and Ushuaia, I don't think they ever managed to break one. That being said, have your wallet ready if you want one (and its requisite compressor) installed.

Nope. Been that way since the Ranger was reintroduced for '19.

The US 5G Ranger has always come with an E-locker in the FX-4 package.
