Alright everyone I figured it out you just need a 92 Taurus SHO to lower the rear of the new Ranger.

Is that your first SHO or are you a fanatic ? I used to own a 91 Oxford White SHO and frequented the SHO forum. Loved to drive the car, hated repairing it.

Ok, all I know about motor vehicles is: 1. I put gas in them, 2. I have them serviced., 3. I wash them occasionally whether they need it nor not. Definitely am not a mechanic or an engineer. Please excuse my ignorance. What is SHO please:question::blush:

The Taurus S.H.O. was a joint venture in 1989 between Ford and Yamaha to create a sports sedan. The Ford 3.0l engine had Yamaha designed heads and intake manifold. The net result was 220 hp and a zero to 60 in about 7 seconds, iirc. Pretty fast for a four door car. Of course the drag coefficient of the gen1 taurus was a milestone of being .33, meaning it was pretty slippery in the wind. S.H.O. = Super High Output. For the day and age, it was a street beast.

The fun was at 3950 RPM ! When the secondaries opened. I would love to have a SHO motor in a gen 1 Ranger. I've been contemplating stuffing a SHO motor in an old 2 door Tempo or gen1 Escort wagon.

The SHO was electronically limited to 8500 rpm, but Engine Engineering tweaked my processor to allow for 10,000 rpm. The program was a Go at Truck until Marketing shot it down as we could not package Air Conditioning, thanks to the size of the XR50 steering gear. If we could have only gone to rack and pinion...but that would come years later with the UPN105 program.

The A/C compressor in my SHO never liked anything over 5500 RPM. If I was going to race, if had to make sure it was turned off. I blew up a few compressors before that. I became very well versed at rebuilding the 10P15F compressors.

Ah 91 a first gen. Would love a first gen next, and in white they look so clean.

Mostly a Mustang fanatic family here, with SHO & Ecoboost trucks sprinkled in over the years. Had a 93 SHO this same color combo about 15 years ago so was nice to find a fairly clean example in so cal got on the road early yesterday bought it and got it back home to AZ around 11 last night. So now we have a 92 and 2011 SHO currently.

Ranger did pretty good, the down low torque of the 2.3 is great although a bit labored up top with any elevation change situation.. was expected but second guessing pulling my rally car to Prescott for any rallies with the Ranger may stick to the F150 for that job. Ranger got about 14mpg on this trek where my 3.5 Ecoboost F150 got almost 18 on a similar tow and with more uphill.

Lowered with Moog springs (one coil cut) and Tokico struts. Catalytic converter removed, Thrush turbo mufflers. K40 cb antenna. Because it resembled a police car, I was rarely passed on the highway. Like I said, I LOVED driving the car, but I HATED repairing it.

Our club would do runs out in the country away from most traffic. We beat the snot out of the cars on these runs. After a member totalled his gen3 only 2 miles into a run, we changed to Motorsport tracks.

Good to know our Ranger with a tune can pretty much kick butt against SHO:giggle:
